Verizon and other major carriers refuse to pay for cell towers that could cover this area. Only Alltel covers this area. That is why I am dropping my Verizon coverage and getting Alltel. I can use Alltel at Secord Lake and at home!

Nextel is the worst ! Who has something better ??

Totally ridiculous service! Same phone and service provider that I used in the city (GR) with pretty bad reception.. now... . 1 bar of reception if all the planets align. Living here temporarily (month) and job hunting. Pretty impressive talking to potential employers and losing signal on every call. All for only an average of $85 per month.

I get no service anywhere close to my house. None whatsoever. It is frusterating and I am now getting a different phone. So if you live in the Edmore-Stanton-Sheridan area DONT get Virgin Mobile.

Poor to no reception in resort. Nextel has the best coverage here. Would be nice, if they piggybacked the Nextel towers to run their PCS network. Tried a repeater and it didn't help, so I sent it back. There's 1 tower about 7.5 miles away, but it's either directional or not putting out a strong enough signal to reach this location.

If I could get connected to Cingular as much as Rogers wireless in Canada it would be great. No recption in the house. I have to drive at least 2 miles west away from the lake to even get anything. the guy who said he switched from Verizon to Cingular over on morningside either works for Cingular or is nuts Verizon is the only 1 I have had any luck with here.

I concur with previous comments - no coverage at all. We need to stop discussions about 2 miles from home knowing the call will drop at any time. I've had Verizon for 10 years. This is the last year. I also have Cingular Nokia phone with acceptable reception.

Bought 4 of these phones from Cingular based on their coverage map (showing my home address in the "Best" area for reception). 3 out of the 4 phones at any given time will not work near my home. When I called Cingular, I was told that I was in a "Poor" service area according to their "internal" maps. I was told there are towers being integrated as we speak but their is no ETA. Now I'm locked into this miserable situation for 2 years unless I want to pay mega bucks to early terminate. I'd say what Cingular is doing is pretty darn close to FRAUD. They post one map to sell the product and then have "internal" maps to explain away their deficiencies.

Even though Garfield Rd.is the major SE access road to Traverse City, reception between River Rd.and Blackbark Rd.is so poor that calls end due to loss of signal. Problem was reported to Alltel a year ago but nothing has been done to fix the problem.

In the village of Hartland (3 mi N of M59) the signal is very poor, especially at the Cromaine Library which is down behind a hill.
