Just upgraded to this phone. Got acceptable reception with Motorola Krzr, moved from Lansing, great reception, got used to minimal but acceptable recteption. Had to upgrade phone because battery was dying after 1 hour and phone was getting old and not working well. This phone is great, but can't get a signal if I even stand NEAR the house. It's a mobile home, and I think the metal frame is killing reception. Probably taking it back. My daughter's Samsung Gleam does fine inside house, and other daughter's Sprint Flip does fine too. Had minimal coverage before, now... nothing.

I get no bars in my apartment. Occassionally it'll show that I have a couple and I'll quickly make a phone calls. A few minutes in, it drops it. I get zero reception outside on the balcony. I get one bar to zero reception in the PARKINGLOT. Lately I've been driving several miles away from my apartment, so I can TALK ON MY OWN PHONE, and when I get to a place that has full reception, the call drops anyway a few minutes in. I'm SO happy I have a 500 dollar phone that I cannot use. More bars in more places? Yah, except in your OWN HOME. I talked to AT&T. The guy gave me a new sim card and said it should solve it. Didn't make any difference. AT&T is now telling me to take it up with Apple. Apple's protection plan specifically states it does not fix phones in terms of poor reception or signal problems, and that its AT&T's fault. Them pointing fingers at eachother is not making my phone work... .
we had Verizon before ATT, and never had a problem with cell coverage. now its nearly impossible to get a signal at home, and its somewhat better in East Lansing / MSU. its really the only drawback with the iPhone, but its a substantial one.

Within 30 seconds of turning onto Ormond from M-59 iI will loose my signal and drop my call every single time. I have to drive about 1 / 2 a mile before any bars return. It only happens when driving South, not North.

I constantly switch in and out of Verizon Wireless service and their "extended network." According to my phone, I have 1-3 bars in either service, but once I place a call, it drops. It happens inside, outside, and everywhere, even as I am driving. I do not hold service until I am either North of 100th Ave on 131 or South of Wayland on 131.
