There used to be service in the area when analog phone and towers were still prevelent. I know for at least the last 6-8 years there has been no service for any phone that has been in the area. If anyone has anything they use to get reception, I would love to hear about it.
We can't get reception in our house. Dropped calls, and if we call each other it goes to voicemail while we are looking at each other's phones. Reception wasn't good with Midwest Wireless, but it's not working at all with Alltel. North of Northfield. Reception runs out right as you leave town on Hwy3, for example. You'd think we were miles from a metro area, but NO, we're just outside the metro.
I went to the twin cities for a night and ended up having car problems tried calling people at Truman area and said the network was busy and when I tried calling the numbers in the cities it said no service called failed what a deal Needless to say I said that was enough and quit..
Carrier is actually Midwest Wireless. Around June 11, 2007 reception went from good to nothing (0). No bars,,,also no reception in Bricelyn a town about 5 miles west of Kiester.
I just moved here from Oregon. Never had any problems with my phone or signal out there. Was even able to get signals in odd places like a ski resort out in the woods there. As for here in Lake Crystal, I can't get a signal unless I leave my place and go towards the Rec Center or High School. I can recieve incoming texts though, but can't reply. Came to this site looking for advice for getting a new phone. Looks like all carriers have there problems, as do each type of phone. One tip I did learn while traveling out here through Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota is turning your phone off, then back on. It will reset your signal and possibly pick up a new stronger signal, due to your phone trying to pick up a signal from a dead previous spot. Hope that helps some people, it helped me a lot while traveling.
