Cell phone service in the Gallatin Canyon and upper Gallatin Canyon clear to 10 miles outside of West Yellowstone on Hwy. 191 is none existent. Why not install a tower in some of the open areas alongside the hwy at least right before entering Yellowstone?!
Was buying a house on N. 32nd St. NO RECEPTION. Called Cingular and was told that they don't even have a tower for 600 miles! Switching as soon as I move up there.
I have found no service to be anywhere around Billings or the Hardin Area. I dont think Cingular even has service coverage at all in Montana despite their coverage map claims
Went to Yellowstone and had no service till we go back to Livingston, but yet my husband phone in which he has Verizon had GREAT service in the park and all the way back to Livingston. I was so happy with my service until then.
I can watch the bars go from 3 to 0 and back to 3 within 2 or 3 minutes. If I try to connect I may get a connection and then am cut off. Verizon in Montana is spotty at best unless you are in one of the few cities and then it can be spotty as well.
Despite repeated promises by Cingular Last year when I got to Montana there was little to no coverage. Specifically Hwy. 191 is a complete dead zone, I had spotty coverage at best when in Lewistown and as sooon as we left town it was dead. This included all the area between Winifred and Hwy. 191 as far as the Missouri river. I had no problems 2 years ago with a Panasonic Duramax, all I needed was to be on a higher spot. CDMA SUCKS! Everyone I talked to is still using bag phones or Boosters to get the output power but I can't activate a bag phone one on Cingular in my home area. This is only one example of a long line of misrepresentation of their services / capabilities and more. Which they hide behind the confusion of the Merger with ATT wireless. To make it worse I'm dealing with the Premier service dept (Corporate plan)

Almost all calls will drop, bars go from 3 - 0 just standing still. Phone is usless in most of MT, Cingular does not cover this area. Also - Don't believe them that they have a partner that works up here, after I called back to get the info they told me they infact did not have a partner. Phone does work a bit in Bozeman if you are outside, but once you walk into a building it drops.
