With my old "pre SIMS card" phone I use to get 2 bars... now ZIP... I have to drive down the mt. 8 miles then it's 4 bars... then zip till Alamogordo then a 2 again... :-(
Reception and Service sucks big time! I have three bars on my phones but often they will not receive incoming calls. When callers leave messages I often will get them 1 to 2 hours later. On numerous occaisions I have tried to call my cell phone using my land line and have been routed to my cell phones voicemail without my cellphone ever ringing. Verizon refuses to take responsibility for this and has no solution to offer.
I got a phone with alltell two months ago and have been unable to make any calls in Santa fe or Albuquerque. The phone always indicates "Roaming" and I now know (after speaking to several CS reps) that when it's on Roaming, I can't make calls (except by charging it to a credit card, using a collect call service or by obtaining a special PIN). I use a pre-paid plan so don't know if it's different for those taht pay monthly but I am so angry with this provider. They knew where I was going to be using my phone and no one told me I wouldn't be able to make calls -- I'm working on getting a refund from them.
Was at Angel Fire, NM over the the days of March 1st to the 4th. Have always had reception till this time. Called tech support there was no help there. Said there must not be a tower to hit but other people talking on their phones. I would say there was a tower! Have Total Freeedom Plans for area that is to be covered but no coverage. Bet they dont reduce the bill!
I have a Cingular To-Go Phone that was completely useless during a recent visit to Hobbs and surrounding towns. I now know that Cingular has no service in nearly all of NM and much of nearby TX. I always thought I was buying service anywhere and would just pay roaming fees. This is the last time I bother with Cingular. From past comments it looks like only Alltel cares enough to provide cell phone service to NM and surrounding areas. Alltel can count on a new customer soon when I move to NM.
Absolutely no reception and no towers near-by on any carrier that I know of.
