Flew into Charlotte May 27 and had no service for 3 days. My service (Alltel) claims coverage in those areas but locals at Lake Norman told me of some sort of system "change" that was going on and causing problems for lots of folks. Anybody know what that might have meant? When I flew back to Tampa on the 29th, my service was fine. Alltel said I should have called them to report the problem... ... duhhhhh... ... if I could have called them, I wouldn't have HAD to call them! :-(

Complete Dead Zone. Some other cell phone providers seem to work fine. Numerous areas that have no reception. Check with Verizon or any other service.

No reception whatsoever. We bought prepaid Tracfones for use in this area and have very good reception (US Cellular towers I think). But the phones are old models of Nokia and LG and while they work great for basic phone service there isn't a smartphone option, so no email or internet. Bummer!

Lake Adger, Mill Spring, NC, Mill Spring, NC 28756 Fri Dec 30, 2011

As shown on the AT&T coverage map, the areas around Columbus, NC and Mill Spring, NC have little or no AT&T coverage. I am frequently in the area around Lake Adger now and I usually just turn my phone off to save battery life. There are a few spots where I can get 1 bar which will allow me to send or receive a text, but phone calls fail within seconds of connecting. The dead zone covers Mill Spring all the way up to Lake Lure. I can't believe that AT&T coverage here is so awful. Even in Columbus, NC which is the intersection of US-74 and I-26, you can only get 1 or 2 bars when standing outside (forget indoors). Sprint and Verizon have excellent (3G!) coverage in this area since they have towers located on Tryon Peak, just north of Columbus which covers this entire area. After speaking with AT&T "Offices of the President" they told me that there are no plans to add coverage in this area. I will have to wait out the contract and switch to Verizon.

AT&T is awful. When there is a signal, it seems to go up and down like the wind. Major dead zones and dropped call issues. Call quality is terrible when there is a signal...

I have absolutely no signal around here. No data at all! How can I help bring more signals / towers to my area?
