You will drop a call EVERY TIME once you get into the neighborhood. My parents also have Cingular and live in this neighborhood and have this exact same problem.

1999 with Alltel to 2006 no reception in my home area. I was told the engineers at Alltel know there are no towers and need more towers but no one seems to be doing what their customes really need. So NO cell phone will work in the area I live in and Alltell knows this and I think it is FRAUDUELENT that this and other companies keep selling their phones knowing this area has no towers. SEVEN YEARS without service at my home and all the companies are aware of NO TOWERS

From Beatties Ford to McCoy Rd get ready to drop your calls. Espesially near the Cemetary, even Cingular drops calls too. I have contacted Sprint and I get the line "We have coverage in that area." Well I still get dropped calls.

I for the life of me can not figure out why Verizon is opening new stores around Greenville, but still have no towers and reception is horrible. I can't wait for my contract to end.

I cannot get any reception whatsoever on Beech Mountain, and it's hit or miss in Banner Elk. It's not until I get nearly to Boone that it finally kicks in and actually works. If I were in the area more often, I would definitely switch from Cingular!

Can not get any recpetion at my home. Is it the phone or is it a lack of a tower.

None! I can see towers and I can see other people getting calls, but not Alltel. This happened on two visits separated by a year or so. Also, at Asheville airport, nada.

I recently moved to Mebane, I have to turn my phone off everyday when I get home or I drain my battery because my phone keeps looking for service that isn't there. I called Sprint and they had someone research it and call me back. They said that they hope to get a tower out here sometime?? (LOL) in the future. (I barely have service in town! I live a few miles outside of town.) I have had Sprint for many years and am now dissapointed that I cannot use my service as much as I did before. I do like what Sprint offers when I can actually access it. Please Sprint if you are reading this put a tower out here! or I am going to have to change carriers!

Purchased phone from Suncom Sept. 5, 2005. Have received excellent service locally as well as out ot state until Oct. 10, 2006. At that point, the phone registers "No Service," or "Emergency Only." This is in my home. I can go out of my home and and walk around the area and find some locations where the phone will register and I can make calls. If I drive toward Hickory (east), I can make connection. I have been in touch with Suncom nemerous times, local and their Tech. Dept. without any positive results. They gave a loner using my SIM card with no results. They put a new SIM card in my phone. Again, no results. The mystery to me is WHY it performed flawlessly for just over one year, and suddenly stopped. The phone was never abused or dropped. WHY?
