No service period. For 35 miles there is not one bar of signal. All the way between Wilkesboro, and Statesville, you can forget making, or getting a call. I believe Cingular just covered Hwy. 421, for people travelling from the traid to Boone. They don't give a d*mn about people actually living in Wilkes county.

It appears that NW North Carolina can expect little or no coverage from Cingular. With two little podunk local carrriers in the area, you would think Cingular would like to cover the area to take away their customers. Nextel is starting to move in Wilkes county. Let's see if Cingular thinks we're important enough for decemnt coverage, once Nextel starts coming through.

The reception "Sucks" on Cingular Wireless! When you travel down this road you have bars but the other person can't hear you while traveling on this road in particular, you loose the call all together! I have tried this with other series Cingular wireless phones and get the same results, I don't recommend Cingular Wireless.

Depends which way the wind blows if you have service or not -- consistently drops calls. When it's not dropping calls it's on Cingular extend (suncom or USA490). It's a real drag. 7 digit dialing in this area but when extend mode must dial 10 - only to have call get dropped. Only about 3.5miles from tower -- need more towers

I get very little reception in or around any Wal-Mart: the SuperCenter on 81, or the one on Hendersonville Rd near Arden. Riverside Dr.is bad, too. Anywhere on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. is pretty much out.

The last 4 years I have had great reception near Fred's on Beech Mountain. My house is closeby Fred's. This was with AT&T. They are now Cingular. I had absolutely no reception May 15, 2004. What has happened this year? There is absolutely no Service!! I have to drive to Banner Elk to make Cell calls. Looks like it is time to move to another carrier!

There is absolutely no service from north of Statesville, all the way to Wilkesboro on hwy 115. With as much traffic is on this road, it is amazing to me that there is no Cingular service whatsoever.

I had a TDMA phone and got good reception, With A GSM phone - nothing. Keep your older phone for this area until upgrades are complete!
