Occasionally I get a bar but try making a call is near impossible. I have even gone outside and could not find a spot to get a call to connect. All providers seem to be poor to none South of Wendell. Same they can all get together and place a cell tower in the dead zone. I get reception as soon as I am a mile or so from the house. I have lived out there 17 plus years and it never seems to get better. Maybe one of these days.
No reception at all. If I wander around the back yard, I just might get one bar. If I drive 1 / 2 mile to Kelly road, I can get a signal, that improves as get closer to Forest City. If I go south, towards HWY 221-A, I loose all reseption. AT&T has FOUR BARS at my next door neighbors house.

U.S. Cellular's coverage is almost non-existant in this area. You use to be able to get marginal service, but it has dropped to almost nothing. I even bought a signal booster ($300.00) which does no good. Multiple complaints are ignored.

I just switched from Verizon to ATT because of the iPhone. I can say with certainty that ATT network is much, much worse than Verizon in multiple locations around Asheville. My experience so far has been quite disappointing, and I started with low expectations. Unless there is some very compelling reason to go with another carrier, Verizon is the best around here. ATT is terrible.
