Verizon is a real let down out here - many dropped calls, minimal reception. On the plus side, if you call and complain they may let you out of the contract as it is a known bad coverage area. Terrible on Cherry Point - I miss 10-20% of all calls at a minimum.
I cx-ed my plan with T-Mobile so that my family and I could have a family plan. I moved from RI to Chapel Hill, NC and my reception is non-existent in or near my home. When I went to Verizon for the first time they told me to program the phone with *228. A wk later- no improvement. I went back. They told me to call a tech. line- the tech said they would get back to me in 7-10 business days. 'Mary' their representative told me: CELL PHONES ARE NOT MEANT TO REPLACE LANDLINES, AND THEY ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE USED INDOORS. If you are able to use your cell phone indoors-- that's your good fortune. VERIZON will not be held accountable for calls made or lost indoors. I was told my another customer that there is little / no cell reception in the Verizon store on 15-501. Last Friday, a group of customers had to gather outside the Verizon store searching for a signal, when Verizon's representatives recommended that they call tech support.
Barrocliff seems to be a pocket where AT&T and at least Sprint fail miserably. A couple friends with Verizon seem to be able to pick up a signal in my house, while we have no service at all. On AT&T I can pick up 2 bars in the attic, but that's hit or miss also.

I cannot get reception at my home (Cates Farm neighborhood, McDougle School) in Chapel Hill. It is also very limited across all of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. I have also experienced a lack of connection when driving I-85 South from Greensboro to Spartanburg, SC. This is a Major Interstate corridor, and I get no connection, not even a weak one ! Very disappointing.
Wow, where do I even start with Sprint. They have a tower 1 / 5 a mile from my house (confirmed by multiple reps) and yet, DROPPED freakin calls. All the time! Don't even think about calling in to customer service and trying to get anything done. You will get someone from a 3rd world country and 80% of the phone convo you are trying to understand what eachother is saying. I have had several carriers and Verizon is the only one that works at my house. The customer service is much better as well. I like that I can go to the local store and they take care of my needs! And believe it or not, their customer service is right here in the good ol usa. Do not get sprint! You will regret it!
Cannot get signal inside the dorm! Last year had no problem in Tyler, right next door, this year in College Hill Suites I have to go outside and walk around to find any bars at all - totally sucks.

No reception in house on Wolf's Trail. Could barely get a signal outside about a block away to check text messages, but couldn't make a call. Cancelled contract within a week.
