Totally bogus, no 3g, but that isn't the real problem here. At the end of the driveway I have 2 bars - no service. Dr.into downtown (by Lowes) and I have 4 or 5 bars - yet still no service.. This blows.

one bar if you are lucky.. two bars if you walk to some hills but calls drop constantly. You would think that this area should have at least good coverage with the state park here and a popular tourist destination. ATT should have service that works in this area!

Verizon is fair to good on west side of Franklin, but once east on 64 a couple of miles there is zero service.

we spent a week in Myrtle Bech April 2011, and had no reception. No network coverage. ATT is horrible in coverage. Call them and they said it is tower problem.

Contrary to the last commentator (is there a way to report that post for offensive content?), I do not even know how to make meth nor do I use a CB radio. Neither do my neighbors in the immediate surrounding area. No moonshine distillers or sisters that are also wives either, in case you were wondering. Got to love people who put the first three letters in the word "assumption"... They are correct in their statement that after the firehouse leaving Hendersonville there is no reception, however. The only company that seems to officially cover this area is Verizon. I do not own a Verizon phone at this time, so I cannot confirm this. Despite AT&T having a tower on the other side of the mountain range (less than 2.5 miles from my location), reception indoors at our house is awful. If I walk down the hill and into the valley, I can get 1 bar in spots. Sprint / Virgin seems to do alright for voice and data indoors (one bar depending upon where you are in the house), but their official maps do not cover our area. I'm debating purchasing a Verizon MiFi since their map lists our area as being within the 3G coverage area. If I bite the bullet, I'll let you all know how it works.

With a tall mountain nearby with power and lots of people without coverage in this area I can't understand why someone doesn't put in the at least the most basic cell phone tower installation even mounted on a phone pole it would cover a very large area. Guess we just don't rate. Nearest tower is about 10+ miles away on the other side of the ridge. Know everyone in this area would sure like some coverage.

Atat sucks. No coverage at all. Atat said dont use your phone at your home. Just use it away from your home. Not reliable at all. Do not get atat. I switched back to Verizon, even though their customer service sucks, I dont talk to them. I need reliable cellular service.

Twin Harbor Dr. / Lilly's Bridge Rd. intersection, Mount Gilead, NC 27306 Fri Feb 04, 2011

Twin Harbor Campground has over 1500 campsites with extremely spotty service. If you stand on your left foot, facing east, with full moon, in leap year, with the wind blowing west, and with fingers crossed, you MIGHT get a signal, but absolutely do not turn your head more than 1 degree in either direction after hitting SEND button... ..signal is gone. Please Verizon (or someone) sightly bump up you signal----Please.

HTC Evo 4G Shift
E. Brown St., Southport, NC 28461 Thu Feb 03, 2011

Ordered Evo 4G Shift online from Sprint, had it next-day shipped. Roaming inside and outside home, occasionally a 1 bar flicker of signal but usually roaming or 0 bars. Drove around Southport to test signal, varied between roaming and 0-1 bars of Sprint service (could not pick up 3G data signal at all). Called to cancel service and the call to tech support dropped on my end. Called again, tech support had me update profile, firmware, etc. No change, still roaming inside and outside house. Canceling tomorrow after only having account with Sprint for 3 hours. The worst experience I've ever had with any service provider company (even counting the abysmal Time Warner Cable, which is some feat). DO NOT sign up for Sprint if you live in the Southport area.
