I have yet to find a carrier that works here in the South valley. Neither AT&T or Verizon work here. My phone does roam to another network with a good signal, but I have no idea whose network.

We just dropped Verizon and picked up a 2 phone contract with Cingular. One phone is with my son down at Oregon State, the other is used by my wife. The moment she drives into Gaston the coverage gets spotty, and completely drops out by the time she has driven the 1.6 miles west of Gaston to our house. Cingular coverage out here is terrible, and I cannot get any info on when if ever they plan to improve the situation out here. We don't gave cell phone coverage, no cable, we don't even have call waiting (thanks Verizon!) on our phone service. They keep sending the bill and promising improvement sometime in the future. It's time they get off their butts and actually provide what we are paying them for.

Why can't there be coverage in Vernonia?? There is NONE! Everyone is going to switch to AT and T and Verizon will lose a lot of business.

Need a tower out here. Top of Hill. Nearest cell towers at a 2.5 mile distance, but towers are at much lower in elevation and blocked by terrain. New high-end subdivisions within 1 mile radius from deadspot, but still no attention from carriers.

The Virgin pay as you go plan is great and can be had for about $10 a month if you don't use the phone a lot. But not on the Oregon coast, where it is useless, as of July, 2005. It seems they offer good coverage along all the major interstate highways. I think they use the Sprint service area, but I could be wrong about that.

In my house I get no reception at all. I have to walk to the end of the block to get reception. If it was not a company phone I'd chuck it.

My phone works well until the last 500 yards before I get home--then it cuts out and drops calls. It's frustrating to not be able to receive calls when I'm home, and to not be able to make calls unless I walk up the street and compete with the neighbor's dog for volume. I feel like the guy from the commercials: Can you hear me now? The other place it doesn't work is near my workplace in Eugene up near Spencer's Butte. Funny--the two places I spend the most time and I pay $50 a month for a phone I can't use the majority of my day. Other than those two areas, the phone and the service has been great. No other dropped calls or problems.
