I live within plain sight of the cell tower and I get absolutely no signal in the house and 1 or 2 bars outside. I have tried multiple phones and all have the same issue. I am shocked that I can take my same phone into the Guatemalan jungle hours from the nearest town with electricity and I was able to get a signal... But in Boerne back here in the civilized world I can't get squat...

I had been with Sprint for 4 years on my son's account and on July 20, 2006 we decided to get a phone under our own name and I can't tell you what a nightmare it has been the past 12 days. In the past, I never had a dropped call in 4 years (maybe 2 at the most) and was using my cell phone as my ONLY phone, my home phone, calling on it day and night. Since signing up under my own name on July 20, I have had 5 different phones and not one of them could hold a call. Everyone was dropped and if it did stay connected long enough to complain to customer service, it would cut in and out so bad I couldn't even argue the point with them or explain what was going on. They were rude and not helpful AT ALL. Plus they charged me 67.00 for a 29.99 monthly plan on August 8 and I haven't even been with them 2 weeks! I would NOT recommend Sprint if you live in my area and if you plan on using your cell phone in your home.

The network is down again. Sure wish Cingular had a way to check on their network via the 'net.

Part of my daily drive home from work. I am constantly on the phone during this drive and my call is inevitably dropped at this intersection.

Us 290 West / Congress To Hays County Line intersection, Austin, TX 78704 |
Sun Jul 23, 2006 |
I've been on the ATT / Cingular GSM network since 9 / 04. In the past month (7 / 06), the reception on US 290 between Congress and the Travis / Hays county line has been non-existent. Phone shows 3 to 5 bars; calls receive a "we don't recognize your number on our network, please dial 611 for service" message. At the local Cingular retail store I was offered the option to sign for a new 2-year agreement to be on the Cingular network. The ATT TDMA network is being taken out of service. I need a new phone, SIM card and contract to get service. I'll wait 2 months for my contract to expire, and try the TMobile network. I need GSM for service in UK.

After years of not having problems, the past few weeks have been horrible. Can't get a signal in the house (and I work out of my home so it is VERY important!) Dropped calls, can hear the caller but they can't hear me and vice versa. I've been told they are working on the towers but who knows?

I can not get any reception in my house at all. If I leave the phone on, the battery runs down quickly because it is constantly looking for service. Reception outside is very spotty. I end up walking all over my yard to try and get even 1 bar. Forget about making or receiving a call in the house. I also have the same problem when driving in the area around White Rock Lake. If you live in Lakewood do not buy Sprint. Customer service is useless. It is not a company worth dealing with to have phones that can not be used.

Quinlan Park and Lake Austin, Austin, TX 78732 |
Sun Jul 16, 2006 |
Since moving onto the shores of Lake Austin 4 years ago, I have watched Steiner Ranch quadruple in size, all of my neighbors homes are are multi million dollar homes and they are building new neighborhoods on both sides of Quinlan Park road like crazy. You would think that at least one of the carriers would recognize the potential to get all the cell phone business in this area. We have had side by side comparisons of every provider during parties at my house. Not one of the carriers is capable of providing a strong enough signal to make a call. The most we could get is one bar with Cingular but the call drops within seconds. I contacted Sprint and informed them of the growth out here but they don't seem to care. I am forced to rely on lanlines only.
