Cingular GSM service sucks from I-79 Exit 91 Roanoke, WV down to I-79 Exit 25, from Weston to Buckhannon and over to Elkins, and finally down Rt. 19 to Fayetteville, WV. All Cellular One (Easterbrooke) towers are loaded with GSM and service actually worked from March 25 to March 30... excellent. However, went off again on March 30. Cell One says they were testing service and would not be back up till late april. According to Cell One as of yesterday, they are still not planning to activate the GSM service on these towers for another 3-4 weeks depending on the roaming negotiations with Cingular. Something needs to happen because I am going to switch if my Cingular service does not activate. I wish I knew who was screwing around at Cingular so I could tell them to get their crap straight and get this service activated. By the way, the phone sucks as well but when I tried to return it, I missed the deadline by 2 days and CIngular would not replace it... .great customer service, huh? Any updates would be appreciated!

Sucks south of Southridge mall on 119 and absolutly nothing in the south. Poor coverage in Preston county up north. Ok in Huntington and Charleston. I was told I had to switch to GMS when my digital AT&T phone bit the dust. I am very disappointed with Cingular so far. I feel like they lied to me when they said there would be no change. The digital was much better.

Rt. 19 / Between Clarksburg and Beckley intersection, Summersville, WV 26651 |

This is crazy. I am in Summersville, WV, on buisness. Co-workers with AT&T have signal(4-5 Bars). I get NO reception, and when I talk to customer service, they say there are no towers here that they can use. A couple of weeks ago a co-worker and I had signal for a week (with Cingular). She was told by Cingular customer service that there must have been a problem. Huh???????????? What did Cingular piss off USCell and Alltel, and they won't share towers anymore. I hate it here... ...

Service is perfect everywhere you go with Cingular. I even get it in the Ohio Valley mall where I didn't with At&t. However, Cingular is the last one to get service near the major college town of west Liberty. Alltel in this area is terriable, but they get reception in west lib. Its a hard choice if you are going to college there.

Hamlin, WV / Rt. 10 intersection, Prichard, WV 25555 |
Sun Mar 13, 2005 |
signal fades out about 1 mile past Huntington city limits. disappears until you reach Hamiln, approx 30 miles or so away. In Hamlin, on top of the hill, you can SOMETIMES get a weak signal, but this dies out as soon as you drive off the hill.

Wayne County / Throughout intersection, Lavalette, WV 25535 |

phone reception has a dead spot in the South Side of Huntington, a city of over 50,000 people. Cross I-64 at exit 9 and you get about 3 miles of signal. Once you reach Lavalette, the signal drops out entirely and is dead throughout the rest of the entire county. Other members of my family with digital service get a signal with no breaks in reception throughout the county. Glad I spent 10X as much for the fancy phone and service. Thanks for nothing AT+T / Cingular.

There is no reception in the Bandytown, Twilight, Wharton, or Bim areas. There needs to be a tower placed in these areas.

Pineview Dr. / Chestnut Ridge Rd. intersection, Morgantown, WV 26505 |

I drove to WV morgantown 2 weeks ago, found the service start to drop when in hilly areas, as expected there are no signal at all when I arrived at WVU (Evansdale campus or Downtown). So I had my cell phone as alarm clock for 3 days and not until I left the down about 30 min driving ( 30-40 miles away) that I start to pick up some signal, the V690 is new model in US, so I don't think it's the phone, I even tried to swap the simm card to different phones, doesn't work either. As I will be regularly travel to WV, it could be a problem for me.

I don't have any reception at all around brown's mill grocery with my cell phone. When I turn right onto gladesville road where I live then I only get reception about 1/16 mile in one spot from brown's mill.
