Cingular rocks in Newark. I used to have Verizon, and they are awful here. Cingular has a site on Cleveland Avenue, and near Applebees (rt 4 and Elkton). Cingular recently bought out ATT, and Cingular can now use ATT towers, they are located ontop of the Chrisitana East Dorm (New London Rd) and at rt4 and 72 intersection. Cingular gets full reception in Pike Creek too, where Sprint and Verizon are dead.

Remember, the type of handset you have plays a role in obtaining a good reception as well.

I have been extremely happy with Verizon reception in Bear, New Castle. It may have dropped few calls occasionally.

I have been a customer of Sprint for five years now and never complained. They have provided great service at all times except when I drive to suburb areas the signal goes down or fades and that happens very rare. Two years ago, they had poor signal at the coast lines (Indian river, tower beaches and Dewey beach), according to four weeks that problem has been fixed and I get perfect signal at the coast lines too. I am quite happy with them.

Verizon is the worst at UD. Terrible. The network is clogged with too many users. The closest tower is about 2 miles away on Cleveland Avenue near Bennigans. I cannot wait to switch. Cingular, ATT, T-Mobile, and Sprint are all pretty good here though. Avoid Verizon in Newark!

Nextel does not have a tower in Middletown proper. The only carrier to NOT have one. The signal bleeds in from the RT13 tower in Odessa (T-Mobile, Sprint, and Cingular are also there). Use anyone in Middletown proper, though Cingular, Sprint, and T-Mobile have the most towers in this part of the county. Verizon is weak in Odessa for example.

Its enough to make short calls or texts but thats when you have service and once you do use it before you lose the signal again. But I also think that AT&T is doing something with the not so local towers cause as of the 1st on March I get 3G half the time and its useable but still with only one bar or so... .

Horrible reception since Cingular bought AT&T Wireless. AT&T was much better. Calls drop frequently, static on the line, and overall frustration. When you begin to make a call with full service, the service all of the suddent drops to none. Making a call out of here is virtually impossible with Cingular.

I get no reception in my house

Have to be near a window to pick up one bar-then when it flips from analog to digital it drops the calls. Calls never come in at the house, just the messages 20 minutes or so later.

We have 3 different models Palm Treos in our immediate family (700p, 650 and 600) and friends who have Verizon that use different phones still do not get any better reception than we do. We get 0 to 1 bar in the house if we are very lucky; get maybe 1 solid bar standing in the street in either Garrison Lake Greene or Brenford Station developments. Verizon service here is horrible. Friends and family that have AT&T service seems to be the best in this area - they always receive 5 bars inside or outside the house in either development.

T-mobile claims to have no coverage at our house, so I guess I should be happy that we can make and recieve calls if we stand on our heads roate our arms and tilt our legs just so, I feel like I am playing a game of twister everytime I make a call... Just kidding of course but I would like to have a dependable cell phone that actually did what it advetised to do and that is make and send calls. I don' want or care about all the other features phone companies try to sell you on. I JUST WANT A CELL PHONE THAT WORKS...

In Salem County, NJ, Verizon has extremely poor coverage.
