Towers are built and improvements are constantly made, so the most recent comments are most reliable. But when determining which provider to go with, get a general feel rather than focusing on individual comments.

Eventually, as you read through the comments, you can see a general trend as to which service provider is superior in the area. Hopefully this will give you more of an idea rather than walking into a service plan blind. Sort by Carrier, City, Zip Code, Reception Rating, or Date by clicking on the header.

Full bars, always. Cell tower (which is not on the map on this website) is right on Sterling Station Road. The tower, however, is low. Once I get into the Village of Fair Haven, reception is spotty and miss or drop calls occasionally on Main Street. Traveling to Syracuse and Rochester have been fine. Reception for Verizon along 104A, 3, 481, 81, 104, 390, 590, all fine.

Had Verison for years and put up with poor reception where I needed it. Have had ATT for 2 years and now I get it at work Osewgo at Pmile point, Pennellville and Woodgate, NY. Now aren,t we supposed to buy our carrier baced on where WE WANT it, not on mation wide, or Metropolitan use? Make sure you do the reserch and use others phones before you pick your carrier. All the rest os Bu--S--it.

Depends on the day- drops calls often. It seems to depend on cloud cover, wind, snow, etc. Sometimes it's fine, other times, it won't work whatsoever. "call failed"

I am still sharing a 2nd cell line with a family member in Orlando who has T-Mobile. Since I have a wireless router, I purchased the Nokia 6301 so I could talk to her. The wireless part of the phone does allow me to make and receive calls, by connecting to my home network's wireless router. But it's range is extremely limited and is affected by walls, lights, etc. The router is a WRT54G-S and it works fine. The phone, on the other hand, seems to be using something more limited. The family member has been with T-Mobile for 4 years and will finally switch to another carrier when the current contract expires. The coverage in Florida is fine if you're in a major city, but if you hop on a thruway and travel somewhere, expect problems. We wonder why T-Mobile isn't expanding more?

I have seen heavy improvements from T-Mobile in my area. It's still in need of work, but you can tell it's getting better. T-Mobile is finally worth getting.

We routinely get 2 bars and occasionally 3. Both voice and data service is dependable here although a booster helps when using Verizon's broadband wireless modem. Depending on which room we are in, inside house the reception can occasionally be less than perfect but overall, we have no complaints. We dropped the land line a year ago and "went wireless". So far, we have no regrets.

Even though I only get 1 to 2 bars, the LG VX8300 is able to allow normal conversations inside and outdoors. The only problems I have had, have been with interference from fluorescent lights while I am walking around the house. So I usually sit down away from fluorescents and it's fine. We are upgrading to the new LG Chocolates (8550 models, not the old model) and I will get to test the reception tomorrow, when the phones arrive via FedEx. Was with Cingular 3-4 years ago and couldn't receive anything out here by the lake. Same with T-Mobile. I had a Samsung T509 and was on T-Mobile's Family Share plan with a family member who lived in Orlando. Could never talk to her inside, and only sporadically outdoors - depending on weather conditions. I always wondered what a clamshell phone with an external antenna would have received.

I have this phone and it goes dead mid sentence. In addition, if I am on the phone for more than 10 minutes the call gets dropped just about every time. I had AT&T and loved it and the Samsung phone I had. Never had any problems and maybe one dropped call for 25 every successful calls. I rue the day my husband switched over to Cingular.
