|
|
Cell phone coverage comments are submitted voluntarily by visitors around the Middletown, PA 17057 area.
Towers are built and improvements are constantly made, so the most recent comments are most reliable. But when determining
which provider to go with, get a general feel rather than focusing on individual comments.
Eventually, as you read through the comments, you can see a general trend as to which service provider is superior in the area.
Hopefully this will give you more of an idea rather than walking into a service plan blind. Sort by Carrier, City, Zip Code,
Reception Rating, or Date by clicking on the header. |

I use my cell to call everyone, and I've had nothing but crystal clear service here. I've called New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, etc... you get the point. It might be the service though, because I had Verizon before and I didn't have any bars. I switched to AT&T and I have every bar. Weird huh?

Since I have moved to the Highspire area I have not had any dropped calls, maybe once but not as bad as when I lived in Hershey. Service for me has been good, I will not say great because no cell service is ever great. Companies are always looking for ways to take advanatge of the customers.

Reception is great. Except inside Giant. Zero reception inside Giant. Is that an AT&T problem--or a more general problem with other carriers?

I get FULL reception in ALL of Harrisburg. This phone actually has 7 Signal Bars, but this site only lets me rate up to 5. Anyway, I get all 7 Signal bars, ANYWHERE I go. That would explain why their are billboards everywhere in the area saying, "Harrisburg is AT&T Country" I live in Shermans Dale, but I come to Harrisburg often. I get 5 or 6 bars in Shermans Dale. Anyway, even if you are underground with an AT&T phone, your phone will NOT lose a bar, unless you are DEEP underground, you will lose 1 bar at the most. Guaranteed. NOTE!: Verizon Wireless has issues in this area with giving people reception inside half the buildings you go in to. Verizon uses CDMA technology which is not notorious for penetrating thicker walls. AT&T uses GSM technology which has the largest range. (Meaning, AT&T does not have to build towers as close together as everyone else does) This Verizon Wireless issue also includes other companies that use CDMA technology, (Sprint, Alltel, Virgin Mobile) But if you are AT&T, or anyone else using GSM (T-Mobile), you will be fine and will be covered through out the whole area. Except T-Mobile's GSM in the area does not compare with AT&T's.

Used to have a little spotty service, but got the SMT5600 and a new SIM and everything has been perfect ever since. I get full reception everywhere in town and at work (Progress Ave). I have had great reception with Cingular even while travelling to other states. For anyone having problems with Cingular, I recommend a new phone and SIM because mine is flawless.

Nextel tower located on Board Rd.near Norhteastern Police Dept. That tower has both Sprint AND Netxel arrays on it. Manchester Mount Wolf are perfect signal quality. Also I never have dropped a call near R.R. Kling on Sherman Street. ANother reviewer had that problem at that location with Verizon

I've been using Sprint in hershey for about two years and have good coverage all around hershey / harrisburg. Their customer service is generally pretty bad, but that's true for many carriers. I get good coverage all around Hershey, Hummelstown, Middletown -- except areas around Bullfrog Valley Rd.and Church Road. If I'm driving in the hills around the Med Center, at Shank Park or indoors in those areas, I usually can't get calls through. I know people with Verizon who have better coverage in these areas but can't get calls at the Giant on 743 or at Costco / Target near Colonial Park. Finally, I have no problems with calls in Harrisburg or on the roads in and out of the area, all the way to Pittsburgh or DC.

Spotty reception in my house. Really frustrating. Sometimes I can get a signal in my basement, which is great, but other times not. My kitchen has terrible reception, while my living room is fine (10 feet away). Poor reception at Giant grocery store in Hershey, again frustrating, because I often want to call home to see if we need something. I have seen other folks talking in the back of the store... keep wanting to ask someone what service they have. Wish I could see side by side comparison of reception by Carrier, Area and phone model.
