With AT&T I usually have 4 bars, a lot of the time 5, and 3 occasionally where I live. I'm quite happy, also happy at the fact that we now have 3G service.

I get amazing service everywhere in Wilmington. The only spotty area outside of Wilmington is on the south end of Carolina Beach, but since I can roam for free I just pick up on one of the analog signals. This works great, the only thing that suffers are my data speeds as I am roaming and not on the Sprint Nextel network. Whether I am in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Greenville, or surrounding areas I have zero complaints. The only place I have been with VERY little coverage is in Duplin County. Obviously there are dead spots on all carriers, but since Sprints foots the bill for me to roam in those few instances, I am a lifer with this company. I have weathered the storm through the merger, and still prefer Sprint over the other pricy and less dependable carriers. I hope all the Alltel customers are prepared for the big VERIZON take over... watch you monthly bills start climbing, and just wait till you need a new phone!

Alltel is definetly the way to go. I've been with them for 4 years and my family has quite an assortment (wife sprint, kids SunCom) and my phone is the only one usuable on the side of the Appalachins facing Tennessee in the real boonies. Im proud to say Ive only had one dropped call... and for 50 dollars / month, there's 1500 day minutes, N&W at 7, and no roaming in a 2 state area. Alltel is the way to go

Wilmington is definetly an Alltel town. Even in my school building where AT&T, US Cell., Nextel, and Sprint seem to lose all signal right at the door, Alltel usually gives me 3-4 bars out of 5. Elsewhere around town, never less than 3 bars, even in my house (5.) Ive been to a few places in NC (Clayton, Apex) where the Digital signal was either low or non-existent, but using the analog-only option, I was able to make and recieve calls normally. NC is Alltel territory, I reccomend it highly.

I can talk on my cell phone in the house and on the road. I have never had a problem with reception anywhere I have been. I love US Cellular. I have been with them for over 7 years.

I have Alltel as my personal cell phone and have yet to ever have a problem in this area. I have Nextel phone for work and it has multiple problems in many places. Alltel seems to me to be the best reception-wise carrier in the area. It's too bad they fall short on cool / new phone offerings like the GSM carriers are able to get. But what good is a phone if it doesn't work?? Go alltel!

6 Bars on the Cape Fear River Downtown

I recently switched from Suncom to Alltel because I coudn't get any reception in my house. Friends with Cingular and Verizon coudn't get service there either. With Alltel my reception is great!

Never had a problem with my Sprint phone. Works all over SE North Carolina except in Clinton.

There is a tower within a stone's throw of this location. I constantly get 4 bars (full reception) from my apartment. Great location for Sprint although reception inside Independance Mall somewhat nearby isn't the best. But that's to be expected in that type of situation. You should get great Sprint service throughout Wilmington. The only small hole might be at the intersection of 74 / 76 and 421 right when you come over the bridge into town. For some reason you hit a dead spot for about a block or two.

I have no problems with my Droid however my wife's ATT phone has dropped calls while in our house.

Great coverage in this area... Cingular works great on the beach. Perfect signal in Cherry Grove, Little River, and the rest of the Grand Strand towards Myrtle Beach

Regarding reception, all phones are not created equal. My reception was poor with the Motorola brand, using the same carrier, but LG has been quite good and had a lower initial purchase price. Customer service has not been bad considering US Cellular uses contractors (excuse me, authorized agents) in our area but I am not in love with US Cell's rates. I will be taking a serious look at AT&T when my contract expires.

Indoors-Outdoors everywhere between here and N.J. its been fine.

Anywhere in the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach areas I get excellent coverage with no loss of service from weak signal. I use multiple phones including Motorola, HTC, and LG.

I get signal pretty much everywhere! I sometimes have to step outside when I'm at home, but its all good!

Usually 4 to 5 bars, sometimes 3 anywhere inside or outside house. No issues with Cingular- AT&T.

Really never had a problem with us cellular service. If you just want a cell phone then this service is quite good. Moving to att / verizon or Sprint here shortly to pickup internet. Looks like Verizon is a bit spotty so I might go with att.
