Just having switched from Verizon to Alltel, I can say that I am a happy camper. I've been with Verizon for six years now, and the service has always been "iffy". Their great phone selection, low costs, etc. lured me in. Now I've been with Alltel for a few days, I can't ever go back. I am able to do everything I've wanted with my cell phone, without worrying about signal loss. From Barnwell, SC. to Olar, Govan, Denmark, to Orangeburg, the coverage has been really good so far.

Excellent reception basically everywhere I go. Second to none in this area. Sure there are dead spots here and there, but very satisfied on the whole!

I have had Alltel for years and have had excellent service. My reception is just as great when we vacation at the beach (Myrtle Beach) and the NC mountains. There are many times when I have service and other friends (who have different providers) have NO service. Occasionally I experience a dropped call but it's when I'm in a low area or when I'm in a location that is heavily wooded. I wouldn't change my Alltel service for anything.

Alltel seems to have the best reception in these areas off the interstates.

I love alltel.But when I had Cingular I went 2miles down the road the phone didn't have no service. I hate Cingular. they suck.

Reception is fair to good on major roads but drops when you stray off the beaten path. I drive from the southside of Aiken to Downtown Augusta to work and cannot maintain a connection on most of StormBranch Rd. I also have a dropout between the state line and North Augusta on Hwy. 78. Probably about to change to Verizon, I have a poor signal at my house and a friend with a Verizon phone has a strong signal even in the basement.

Reception in the immediate downtown area is about average using Alltel's towers, but unfortunately drops off significantly west of town along SC 64 towards Snelling. There is a terrible gap in cell coverage between Barnwell and Snelling near Sweetwater Country Club, but some excellent sites (higher than average elevation) for potential cell tower locations.

Reception is spotty to nonexistent inside our house, poor in our yard, OK in the middle of the street.

Verizon has very poor to no service in Fairfax South Carolina and surrounding areas

Very Poor to NO reception in Ehrhardt, SC. Signal is lost about 5 miles out of Bamberg Toward Ehrhardt.

Reception was GREAT under Alltel. Verizon bought Alltel last month. Now there's little to no reception.

Very poor reception here. Inside the buildings, phones rarely work.

Reception is poor throughout the Woodside Plantation development. Call drop frequently while driving. AT&T even admits the coverage is marginal. Too bad they can't put up a site on the Town Creek / Silver Bluff tower. They need a tower inside Woodside.

Can get almost no reception in my home with Verizon.

You have more miss than hit in this area with signals fading in and out according to whether you stand on one foot with your arm raised or not.

You will lose your signal on I-20 in this area because of the hills.

The reception is generally great before and after you get near JD Level Elementary School, but right before you get there, your call will be dropped.

No reception between the 2 roads above, however 1 / 2 mile beyond, in either direction, reception improves, and 1 mile beyond, I can get 4 bars.
