Alltel is the only provider that I've found that will cover me throughout Baxley, as well as when I go to Surrency which is at least once a week through work. I love the service. Traveling other places away from here and down to Florida it has always done fine too. I would recommend the service to others. There's nowhere in Baxley I've been unable to make a call with it and I'm pretty much all over the city making deliveries. Did have Cingular and it got very weak in just too many spots down highway and away from highly populated areas but it's all good. Alltel's plans offer more anyway and the coverage works out better in my travels.

Works good all along US 1 from FL line on up to Baxley. Does good 4 me. I trust Cingular all the way

I 've been traveling to Baxley for years, Last time I was here in Aug. I had no reception on my GSM service. I returned to Baxley on Christmas '05 and had service all around town, even on Sellers Rd.,where my TDMA phone breaks up.. Thanks for the good work! Go Cingular!

cell phone reception from Verizon is perfect in Mcrae, Lumber City and Hazlehurst. Between Hazlehurst and Lumber City you might drop a call. As far as Verizon in Alamo, Glenwood it is pathetic. No towers close by.

Great coverage in SE Ga. West of Jesup however roams to Alltel. Very few bad areas.

I've heard so many people comment on the poor reception of these newer phones. If I want to take pictures, I'll use my digital camera. If I want to play games, I'll use my Gameboy. A phone is for talking! In the remote areas of South Georgia, nothing beats the reception of a tried and true Motorola StarTAC. I'm keeping mine as long as it last. I've had it for 5 years and it still works as good as the day I bought it. I've only replaced the batteries once. Alltel is has tried to convince me I need another phone with the updated technology. NO WAY! The only issue now is, Alltel will not activate any more non-GPS phones on their network. I wonder just how long this StarTAC will last? The next best phone would be a Motorola V60s, which Alltel will still activate on their network.

In Savannah, GA reception is very good. I went to FL and it was awsome. But the sevrice with T-Mobile is terrible. For a long time member you get nothing!

Alltel has claimed for years that they are going to put additional towers in Wheeler County, but as usual they lied! Why is Alltel allowed to claim digital service when they barely have analog in most rural areas.

Said we were to have service in June 2005 and they are telling me now they have no idea when we will have any service. This is June 2995

ALways seems to be a problem with reception. Often any reception falls off completely for no particular reason. Seems to be a more of a problem since Verizon purchased their choice of a portion of Alltel.

At home had great serv. with Alltel but since merger can,t talk in house with out dropping calls. I feel legaly my contract should be voided by sale of co. Very angry with serv. now Can,'t talk to anybody at store always 10-20 people waiting. Very poor customer service! Want out. My wife is a paralgeic and needs her phone like we had as far as serv. goes THANKS A LOT VERIZON / ALLTEL / OR WHOEVER YOU ARE!

Have been told about new towers in the area. But, service has not improved.

Alltel needs to come back Verizon service in my area has not been the same. My signal issues started when the major switch over took place in my area. I keep getting the run around with them, bought new phones and the same issue, I do live 2.5 mile from a tower and can see the thing at night from my house and I still can not keep a call on my phone!

Thought maybe things had changed but was mistaken. My wife was on call over a weekend and was given an ATT network phone. 3 missed calls and bad reception even outside of the house. I had a Cingular phone 3 years ago and that's why I went to Verizon. I could not make or recieve calls at home.

Reception used to be good 2 years ago when we moved here to this address. However, it has degraded and is now very poor. It is 93 db which is considered to be weak. Calls drop a lot and service is very bad. Were it not for trees, I could see several towers; so, it does not get much worse. Tower tuning by Verizon was not successful. I could use my cell as my only phone, except signal and service at my home is terrrible. It has also been bad in other parts of South Georgia. AllTel would be my next choice. Not all AllTel stores were acquired by Verizon. If you were with a store that was acquired, you now have service with both, but if you were with Verizon or a store that was not, you do not yet have access to both systems. Doesn't make any sense to me, but that was what I was told. DSL with Windstream is not much better - not up to rated speed in this area.

Was forced to change form Alltel in Vidalia to Verizon when the company sold out. Reception has gone way down and cannot complete a call with it being dropped.
