I get 2mb / s Down and 600kb / s up on a full 3G connection pretty much anywhere in Citrus and Marion Counties. Verizon proves that they do have the best 3G Coverage in Central Florida.

Excellent phone and reception from the waters of Homosassa to the mountains in Ga., until I dropped it in my coffee and after being with Sprint for over 5 years you'd think I can get a free phone? I have to change companies to get a free phone. There is poor reception during stormy weather.

Nextel is by far the best service I've tried thus far. I started out with Sprint PCS prior to the merger and it was horrible in my area. The only place it worked was at my office, and I'm a mobile computer tech so everywhere else I went to such other client's offices it didnt' work. At home and other people's home I got absolutly no signal. Nextel works okay at my home in cerain places but I don't have to be confined to no window. I don't know about you guys but Sprint is CDMA and Nextel is IDEN and since trying IDEN I don't think I would ever switch to another CDMA carrier until Nextel and Sprint come out with a converged service.

99% of the time I have 5 bars both in Fl or NY. I have had no reception problems with Cingular up and down the east coast at all. I call coast to coast with the same good reception. I have had Cingular service and I am well satisfied. The people that work at Cingular are also very pleasant to deal with also.. I wish I could find something negative to say but I can't. And no I do not work for the company.

I have had 3 other cell phone companies in the past 5 years and this is by far the best phone sevice I have ever had. The cell phone and home phone can not be told apart. I use the phone coast to coast and have never had a single problem It works great no matter where I go. Inside or out side makes no difference either WORKS GREAT !! NEXTEL is the only way to go.

I've found the reception to be really good with Alltel all over Inverness and the surrounding area here. I've got family that lives in a number of locations in city but Alltel is consistently on 4-5 bars. I get a full signal around Citrus high school and hospital. Also a full signal around Wal-Mart area on 44. Drops off a little inside but not near as bad as former Verizon phone. I can still make a call throughout. No dead areas or dropped calls. Be sure to compare prices too, Alltel seems to give more minutes for the price than other providers and is a good option here. I also love the My Circle unlimited calling to any 10 numbers which is a good features others don't have. Finally, I do agree with another poster that a better phone picks up better reception. I always go with Motorola and I've noticed a difference between how calls sound on it and a family member's Kyocera phone.

switched over from nextel, then Sprint now cingular. By far, Cingular is the best. I can now call from my house. Nextel worked %50 of the time. Sprint worked %10 of the time. So far Cingular works flawlessly %99 of the time. In my house no less than 3 bars. I love it.

NEXTEL works good and sometime perfect no matter where you go in the county I live and coast to coast. The only place I get a weak signal is in my house and in walmart but the calls still go though with not a whole lot of breakup.

As Bell System retirees, we've used the VZW service down here seasonally since the early 1990's when it was still pre-merger GTE MOBILNET Tampa Supersystem (B-side CDMA, now run by Alltel since 2000.) VZW America's Choice voice service here is either VZW's own native Florida PCS coverage (1900 mHz CDMA) or Extended Network "roaming" using the afforementioned Alltel B-side 850 mHz CDMA legacy (old GTE) system. Coverage on VZW most phones from either network is good to excellent, largely because of the flat terrain in Florida and the better PCS signal penetration. Great signals in Oak Village Center, Gerbera Court, near the main SMW-CC club house complex, all along Douglas, Linder, etc., whether on foot, by car or inside houses. Several of our elderly friends and neighbors at SMW have replaced their lousy Sprint-Embarq POTS home phone landlines with VZW coverage. We use the service in SMW about 5 times a year or seasonally in the winter. Much better than our VZW service in the DC area! BTW, the only folks we know who use Nextel in SMW are the visiting landscaping contractors, since they like the PTT walkie-talkie feature.

I was with Sprint for 8 years, not good in this area, switched to Embarq only to find out they are resellers for PCS. Service was worse. Travel to Brooksville often. Dead spots, dropped calls with both services. Switched to Verizon and what a difference. Strong signal at home and traveling north to Crystal River, east to Brooksville and south to Springhill. Customer service after the sale is excellent. Can't say enough good things about Verizon. "Yes, I can hear you now".

service is good. I did find in my area the more exspensive the phone the better the service. I had the 19.99 phone then bought the 209.00 Now I can talk in the house, and not have to go outside to talk.

Success rate here is highly dependent upon which phone is being used. My Motorola E815 has almost perfect call completion rate and rarely misses incoming calls (even with 2 bars). Previously, I had a 2005 model Nokia which performed miserably at this same location. My wife's 7 year old Nokia often drops calls but is useable.

I had great reception here with my old Nokia 5165--with Cingular, but the new Motorola phone is terrible. Perhaps because the new phone is on GSM... and the old phone was on analog most of the time. With the Nokia, I had 4 bars of service, but only about 25 minutes talk time (because of the model of the phone). I did NOT make a good trade off... talk time vs. service / reception. I may buy the new Nokia flip when Cingular offers it... hopefully, that will help.

Drop calls all the time and choppy when at others. Only safe place to make calls in the house are in the kitchen, driveway (sometimes) and backyard odly enough. Inconsistent coverage.
