Towers are built and improvements are constantly made, so the most recent comments are most reliable. But when determining which provider to go with, get a general feel rather than focusing on individual comments.

Eventually, as you read through the comments, you can see a general trend as to which service provider is superior in the area. Hopefully this will give you more of an idea rather than walking into a service plan blind. Sort by Carrier, City, Zip Code, Reception Rating, or Date by clicking on the header.

Never a dropped call, good signal strength, and no static when communicating with other US Cellular customers-always good service with US Cellular. Only time there has been an issue is when calling a customer with a different service provider that's when we get the static or bad reception from the other person- Maybe the phone as well as the service provider should be considered when choosing a plan.

Tmobile roams on AT&T for free... meaning you get cheaper plans but AT&T coverage... Plus tmobiles phones seem to pick up better than cingulars or the new AT&T's

Verizon wireless is perfect where I live, they are the only people who get really good coverage in the most rural of places. I just moved here from atlanta and was not sure if my phone would work out in the middle of nowhere. But to my suprise it did Verizon gets all my props!

I have Cingular wireless. I have always had perfect coverage. I also had a Nokia 3220, which the coverage on it was iffy. I also have Verizion Wireless. Because with my Cingular phone did not get coverage on mts. I get coverage with Verizon becuase they have analog roaming. My current phone is a Sony Ericsson z520a, which I get outstanding coverage everywhere. $Except parts of HWY. 411

Sweetwater, Sweetwater, TN 37874 Mon Dec 05, 2005

Verizon definately has the best network around the Sweetwater area. All phones work well near I-75, but once you get off the interstate, the others fade out much more quickly (especially Cingular. You couldn't give me a Cingular phone). They may have better sound quality, but their signal and antennas in East TN are few and far between. Verizon has the best network of towers, period. Verizon will work out Oakland Rd. into Loudon county (the Erie area), where no other companies towers reach. Also, If you are going towards Watts Bar Dam and Ten Mile, Verizon is the only company with a tower serving the Ten Mile (Meigs County) area. The coverage is also strong all the way to Madisonville. If you are using the phone along the interstate only (I-75), pretty much any company will do, but if you plan on venturing off the interstate several miles in any direction, then Verizon is by far the best and only choice, hands down. I would recommend Verizon to anyone. (Great customer service and stores too. The people at the Athens store are very nice). Anyway, in this area, Verizon is by far the leader. (I haven't ever tried U.S. Cellular, so I can't comment on their coverage, but I can tell you for a fact that Cingular's coverage in this area is VERY poor and nowhere near that of Verizons).

Good reception, 2 bars generally, very few dropped calls. Verizon data works well too in this area, but is limited to the slower transfer rates (Rx1TT) on the Ten Mile Verizon Wireless tower.

Cingular's service here on Gage Rd and North is O.K. The problem is when you South of Hwy. 72 a few miles on Hwy. 58 and other area roadways the signal does not exist. People are nice down here and will let you use their land line if you have an emergency.

Reception is great on HWY 60 and the parts of HWY 27 that I've traveled. However, my house is less than 2 miles off of 60 and I can't get a good signal there for anything. If I want to talk, I have to go outside in my yard. Also, I have no service along HWY30 East - nothing like a 40 mile commute without service to get you to sign up for OnStar! Very frustrating.

I'm lucky to have one bar in the Kingston area. I have had service for a year and have been reasonably please up until this point. Over the past 2 months T-Mobile service has declined I now drop calls in my home out side in the yard and have even dropped calls on 40 west toward Knoxville.
