AT&T

Since the merger of Cingular and AT&T my calls drop consistently every minute / seconds and reception is lousy. I did not experience any if these problems with AT&T.

Minimum 4 bars standing right in the front window and in the back garden. Everywhere else in the apt (first floor of 3 story brownstone) get 1, maybe two bars with constant break-up. Switched to Cingular, bought the same series phone (blackberry 7100) and the reception is exactly the same. Very poor. Otherwise the reception on both plans is great: outside, office buildings etc. Weird. I get better reception on a deserted beach in southern Yucatan than I do in my kitchen. Sister-in-law has Verizon which works fine in my apt. If only they had better phones.

Reception is better then it was with T mobile two years ago (changed service then, t mobile was horrible and bad customer service to boot). Better then bad is still not good, my family back in The Netherlands uses GSM there and you cannot hear the differece between landline or mobile, wether calling from the city or somewhere in the countryside on the other end of Europe!

The moment I enter the building, the signal is unpredicable. Calls are dropped frequently.

Since AT&T switched to the Cingular network in Manhattan (or so says my handset), service / reception has plummeted. I'm often asked to "switch to a landline" whereas I never was in the past. Choppy conversations are frequent throughout Manhattan, and the Flatiron area is sure bet for dropped calls. If plans are still competitive, I'll likely switch to T-Mobile. (I've heard very good things from friends in Manhattan and beyond.)

No problem using my Cingular, GSM, Samsung x427m throughout the lower east side.

My AT&T Samsung 426 has worked well 95 percent of the time in the LES and at my job downtown. Rarely a dropped call, sometimes I miss a word or two. Normally though it's pefect. always rings even in my building.

Sprint PCS really does suck! I just got my 3rd replacement phone and it doesn't work, I would call Sprint to cancel but I can't, It doesn't hold a charge and I can't even log on to the network to send a text. I would use a can and a string before I spend another dollar with sprint. James

No service at all in office. Have to go out into the street where the service is intermitant.

Up until recently, reception and call quality has usually been fine. For the past couple of days, however, I have been experiencing dropped calls (irrespective of the location of the person with whom I'm talking). When I look at the reception meter, the number of bars fluctuates quickly from 2 to 5. Could this all be a function of a failing battery? I've had the same battery for a couple of years.
