Reception is rarely the issue for me. The big issue is that calls come in and callers get a "number not working message." Or worse, the call goes straight to voicemail and never even displays (ever) on my phone. If I am lucky, I get a notice that there is a voicemail. Sometimes it is a 3 -5 day lag. T-Mobile tells me this is due to "tower failure" (long term at this point) and claims they are not responsible. They have refunded a portion of my monthly bill when I press them on it though. At least customer service is pleasant.

Worse reception ever. It's alright in some streets. However, when I'm in a building or basement, there is 1 bar to no reception.

I'm the same guy as the T-Mobile from August 19th 2004. Just a quick update to let you know that I switched to Verizon (different phone too, don't know if it plays a significant part, I doubt it though) and now I get 3 (out of 5) bars most of the time, sometimes 4, and I get all my call loud and clear. The sound quality is actually less good than T-Mobile when T-Mobile works, but it never did in my house. And I still have my old phone for a couple weeks so I could compare the two right at the same time: called my T-Mobile phone with my Verizon one and left a message since it didn't even ring... I really like T-Mobile as a company - the plans, the customer service, the phones, etc... are great. Too bad the most important part doesn't work. I'm with the Evil Empire now... :(

I never get a single call at home - the worst ever. When I'm walking around in the City, it's fine - but huh... I have to get out of my house to make a call. It's THAT bad.

Good reception in apartment and on street. Few dropped calls.

I swear, I think it's my phone. My BF has Verizon and has no problem at my house. I get absolutely no reception inside my home. Just outside my house, if I stand in a certain 6 inch radius, tilt my head to the left, and not move the phone at all, I MIGHT be able to call my voicemail. I guess I'll get a new phone and see if that helps.

I get poor reception in my apartment on 14th and Ave A, or anywhere else I've been in Manhattan for that matter. I was told my Samsung phone needs an upgrade to work better, but I only bought it three months ago (warranty is up already, so store won't take it back). They want me to mail it to Texas for repairs, and won't give me a loaner or pay for shipping. Having a ten minute conversation without dropping the call is rare. AT&T is horrible. I am paying the $175 to cancel service and switch to Verizon.

I recently switched to Sprint and there is NO reception inside Penn Station. I am very disappointed with the service. Other than Verizon does anyone know what carrier gets good reception inside Penn Station?

Even when the bars are high (which is unusual), this service (I've tried 4 phones) does not work well in NYC. They claim in their ads that it works better in buildings, but then if you call them, they say the phones don't work as well around concrete. Their service is disintigrating. I complained to the FTC, and when AT&T called me all they were willing to do was cancel my service without a charge, so now I have to find a different service.
