Verizon

Problem is in my apt. Phone will cut out for no reason. I used to have an Audiovox phone which was perfect. Used it for about 5 years until it started giving me problems turning it on. Had no problems until then and had perfect service in elevators, the subway, etc. Have always had Verizon and find they have the best coverage; I blame the phone I got from them recently for the sporadic cut-outs.

Got Verizon in April and the signal was perfect. Worked in some subway stations too. Now, a month later has very intermittant service anywhere near the Empire State Building up to W 40th Street along Fifth. The tell me there is nothing in their system that indicates a signal problem. Can't get a signal at my apartment building on W 35th St anymore. :(

Cingular is horrible in this neighborhood. Someone has already posted explaining how bad it is. I'm just re-affirming it.

it seems that if i get stuck in traffic between high rise buildings the signal strength goes down to nothing at all

Reception is very spotty. Usually I have 2 bars, but occasionally it goes up. Even with 4 bars, the person on the other end complains that my voice comes in and out and the quality is aweful. In most other locations, I dont have this problem.

Very strong signal indoors and outdoors. Full 5 bars on the phone.

At street level on the corner an average of 3 bars. On the 5th floor of the same corner full 5 bars of signal. (Note that prior Verizon phone shows 5 bars at street level, but had comparable call quality).

Outdoors I get 5 bars, indoors I get between 1 and 2. If I stand by the window I can get 4 bars. However, even with 1 bar this SE T630 phone has been able to make and receive calls. On evenings and weekends when a lot of people are in my neighborhood (SoHo), there is more clipping/compression during a call. I think T-Mobile needs another cell site in this area, but for most of the day it's pretty good. I switched from Verizon, which always gave me 5 bars of service on a Motorola Timeport, but the quality of the calls wasn't as clear as it is with the T630 with 4 or 5 bars. AT&T also shows up as an available network but it doesn't reach all the way inside like the T-Mobile signal does.

ATT Sucks in NYC. It was great in LA, but upon moving here about 85% of my calls go straight to voice mail. ANd this is supposed to be the "good ATT" service. Only Verizon and T-Mobile are very good in the city.

Totally random. One minute it will work fine everywhere in the apt. Next minute I can't call anyone. Sometimes won't work for an entire day. I am sick of looking for that magical spot everywhere I go in order to make a call. Also barely works in parts of the city. I hate it, I can't wait to get rid of it. Att is the worst.
