Verizon

Drops most calls. Now I just use the land line - like an animal.

Drops nearly all calls after 2 or 3 minutes. I am constantly apologizing to my coworkers for losing them.

I live in high rise building. No signal from At&T.

The reception used to be fast and reliable, until about 2 weeks ago. Now I'm lucky if I can get even 4G, most the time I am inside a building I can't get ANY service, I'll randomly get text messages that will say sent over 1hr ago.

I had nearly perfect reception and coverage with Sprint 30-40 feet away from a window at one of the Rockefeller Center's building on the 15th floor. Since I switched to ATT a year and 3 months ago (thinking it would be better) it has not been great (I also bought a new S5 then). Every time I step 10 feet into a building (whichever building in the city) I lose coverage and cant receive calls. I have never been sure if it was my Samsung S5 or ATT, but had a feeling it was ATT. At my office I sit 5 feet away from a window to the main street and coverage was ok. In the past month however, something must have changed as I now never have coverage. The phone says I have 4 bars and 4G but I get absolutely nothing, texts fail to be sent and received, pages dont load, etc. So frustrating. Thinking of switching to either Verizon or Sprint again.

Absolutely pathetic internet connection / 4G LTE.. It shows I have 4G LTE signal but the download / upload time is painstakingly slow. NEVER EVER with AT&T

I live in a high rise on the 22nd floor and get NO service at all. I have to move to my balcony to make calls (thank God I have a balcony) and I am constantly struggling to get good LTE service when I am out and about. I always have to put the phone in airplane mode and then turn it back on in order for it to hopefully connect to LTE rather than 3G or 1x. It's so annoying. No one can EVER hear me when I am talking. It is so frustrating. Especially when I am trying to make business calls and they keep saying hello hello? And then bam the call fails. Can't stand it.

The other reviews on here don't take into account this is NYC, even though some of the reviewers appear to live and work here. New York has several complications for cell phone carriers. Tall buildings is one obvious one. Cell phone towers have limits to their range. When you work in a tall building on a floor above 20 or so, you can probably expect poor service unless your building has some way to boost signal strength. My suggestion is if you have a phone that allows you to connect to the internet wirelessly, do so. Some providers (T-Mobile is one) even allow you to make phone calls through this wireless connection. This problem with tall buildings is common to any cell phone provider in New York. Another issue of course is the large underground rail and subway system. Cell phone providers have begun creating a network at the platforms. You can get service at most platforms in Manhattan and in some platforms in the other boroughs. Service while on a moving train is almost non-existent, as it would require allowing the providers to get into the tunnels to set up some sort of continuous network. For now, it doesn't exist, and it doesn't matter which provider you have, the issue is the same. Most New Yorkers know their smartphones won't work while the train is in motion and underground. Other than these two instances, I have great service anywhere I have been in NYC. I understand that tall buildings and subway tunnels are a tough issue for the providers to resolve. Just be realistic in your expectations. What you really should be concerned with is when one provider can't get decent service in NYC where others have no issue (Sprint). If you live here, switch to someone else. If you're just visiting, grin and bear it or pick up a prepaid phone from another carrier that you can use while here.

I work for ConEdison inside the Steam power plant on East River Station and spend over 40 hours a week with no reception what-so-ever. Luckily, I own an Iphone and so do most of my friends and family so they could only reach me through imessage or facetime when I'm connected to the Wifi. My collegues do not have this issue with their companies.. Even Metro PCS seems better than Sprint. Very disappointed. Seriously considering switching companies.
