Poor reception and numerous dead zones are forcing me to switch providers and eat the early cancellation fee. Central Nassau County is a black hole with Netel also. Never a signal and drops calls constantly. Service has gone downhill since merger with Sprint.

Nextel reception is the worst. They have great features but the service is really bad in NY-NJ area. I can not wait until my plan is up in Feb. I am switching to Verizon. I have found that Verizon in the NY, NJ area works the best and has better Reception area. There are just to many dead zones with Nextel.

I cant even explain how bad Nextel is..No service in my house, ALWAYS drops call, the radio sounds like someone is talking to me under water..the problem with Nextel is everyone is soo on them since day 1 with the radio..for what you pay you dont get 1 / 2 of what you deserve..and there cost. service is a bunch of jerk 0ffs... ask them if they have a Nextel and they would say NO... hmmm wonder why! the inside always knows better on whats really going on..

The reception is really good. I feel that the ability to listene to music on a phone like this is great. Even though its a good phone there are still some bad things. If you use the speaker a lot it sounds as if its gonna come out. It's not suitable to play music very loud of have a call very loud on it.

I've used a moto StarTac with AT&T for 4 years and get perfect reception everywhere except in stores or basements. Everywhere means all 5 boros, Long Island, New Jersey, Pensylvania, Ohio and Texas. Yes, I've used this phone in all these places with excellent clarity. I think the problem with everyone else are these new crapy phones. They look good but the more features they cram into these phones the poorer the quality. My first cell was one of those huge moto flips circa 1994 and it even worked in subways. Analog is the way to go... digital sucks nuts but we don't have much of a choice anymore. PS. I know I'm gonna regret it but I now have to get one of those "new crapy phones" with a new service provider.
