T-Mobile
Have been on T-Mobile for over 10 years because of their pricing. I've never had great reception with them and virtually none when in my apartment in Brooklyn. When in direct range of a tower, the reception is good to excellent, however I've found that they haven't really increased their towers / coverage that much and service in 2012 still remains spotty and deficient.

0 service in building. If anyone calls, it goes straight to voicemail which will randomly download as a shift around in my apartment. Out on the street, I sometimes get an average signal. Seems like it drops back down to zero for a couple blocks if I'm walking towards Ft. Greene. Friend with Verizon can make calls in my apartment.

In my apartment I receive NO reception, I have to sit on the stoop or in the backyard in order to have a conversation. This only started about 6 months ago, I reported it and it still hasn't gotten better. I wish there were a way I could get out of my contract for free. The service is horrible!

ATT service sucks when I am in my apartment. works ok when outside or even when driving around the neighborhood. I can barely sustain a telephone call when I am in my apt. ATT has done nothing to help during all of the years since I been with them (since iPhone 3)

The area is so unpredictable. Right outside on my steps I can get around 3-5mbps. But if I were to walk to the corner of Franklin and Brevoort down Lefferets my average speed drops to.05mbps.

1 / 2 the time I literally have "no service" showing up on my phone. How is this possible? I live in NYC.

I have 0-to minimal service in Brooklyn Heights. I always have to move around to find service. This is the worst experience I have had.

Dropped calls, non stop for two weeks now. Sometimes no service outside and in house. Extremely disappointed.

All I need my cell for is the occasional text and phone call. It works fine when I'm on the street in Manhattan, but in my apartment - forget it. Over the past couple of months the reception stability has gotten worse and worse... . Verizon doesn't do anything for you: "dial *228 and reset your phone" is the best they can come up with. Ah private monopolies... Now I'm lucky if my reception lasts to check voicemail when my phone lights up to tell me a new voice message has magically arrived. Can't wait till this contract is up.

I'm on the fifth floor of an apartment building. Service is VERY spotty in my home and it always has been regardless of carrier. Just recently switched to Sprint for their unlimited data. 3G is extremely slow and 4G is as well. I ran several speed tests using 4G and was only able to get.3mbit down rates. Since I've always had spotty coverage where I live, I cannot comment on the individual carriers which I've had service with (ATT, Verizon, and Sprint). So far, Sprint's customer service has been adequate.
