T-Mobile

I don't understand my problems with reception. The network just keeps timing out. I have 4 bars and it says 3G but sometimes I try to access my email or send a text and it just won't go through. Currenly I've been trying to send a once sentence email for the past hour and a half. That is not 3G. It just spins and nothing happens. I have an iPhone 5.

got Sprint galaxy s lll with LTE but have no LTE coverage or any coverage or that matter 3g is beyond slow this aweome phne but Sprint says there is nothing wrong with its network wouldnt recommend Sprint PCS in south jersey to anybody had to call the BBB just to get out my contract

Just switched to Sprint to get on my girl's plan worst decision ever. I get no service most of the time I have to switch to WiFi. Sold us a 4g LTE phone but don't provide the service in philly. Stuck on 3g the most bars I ever get is 2-3 nothing more. Connection times out all the time. Sprint sucks and is robbing people by charging for 4g service and doesn't even cover the area.Leaving Sprint ASAP

Verizon

Good service. Virtually no dropped calls. Calls always go through on the first try. Surprised Verizon has such a low rating here.

T-Mobile

I started having problems with T-Mobile in Dec 2011, I was losing reception in my house,I had 1 bar on the phone while in my dining room and I would go to zero bars in the living room or the basement. I went T Mobile and they told me my phone was outdated (Blackberry Pearl flip) I got stuck with another 2 year contract and got a Windows phone,it was worse than the Blackberry,I had it 3 days and went back and complained,they gave me a Mytouch, this phone didn't drop calls in my house,because it wouldn't accept calls in my house or within a 2block radius,no texting or calls. I complained again,they said they were working on the towers,I just canceled my contract with T Mobile citing Breach of Contract on their end for failing to give me the service I was paying for.i haven't signed with another carrier yet.

AT@T signal strength is absolutely horrible to the point that I don't bother with using it anymore in my neighborhood. I give up! I live in University City one of the major areas of Philadelphia. I live in the company of 3 universities and 2 of the top Universities in the world. Living with prominent professors, doctors etc.. Also, 2 of the top hospitals Univ of Penn, Children's, Hosp of Phila). I called AT@T to complain, useless! This is the 5th largest city in the country but AT@T doesn't seem to care!

Sprint

I originally joined Sprint, after having both Verizon and AT&T to take advantage of the everything plan for $100. I was thinking that because I'm in a major city my reception would stay the same and I was wrong. Not only is the network slower than the other networks (my phone will time out before some web pages load) but I no longer have service in my home EVEN when I have on my wifi. I will be switching back to another network after this contract is done.

Well the use of a "Reception Rating" doesn't adequately reflect my experience with T-Mobile in Philadelphia. When I moved to Philly, I purchased the best phone out there, the Galaxy S2, drooling to take advantage of T-Mobile's "The Nations Fastest 4G Network". So the reality of the situation, while in Center City (where I work and live), I almost always have 4-5 bars of signal which the phone thinks is 4G. However the data service while in 4G is HORRIBLE! Let me say it again, HORRIBLE. Most often my data service is non-existant and if it does happen to work, VERY VERY VERY SLOW. I actually stopped by the T-Mobile store on Market St., and was told that "We know there is a problem with 4G, there is only a single 4G tower for all of Center City. We recommend you put the phone into GSM mode (ie 2G) and us it that way." WOW, so let me get this straight, I just purchased a $500+ phone and you think it is OK to simply use 2G for data.. give me a break! To T-Mobiles credit, I have complained enough that they now credit be $5 / month more than what I pay for the service, so I will stick it out hoping for better service in the future. But for a new customer looking for 4G in Philly, look to Verizon or there, dont even consider T-Mobile.

My signal is getting worse inside my house, and outside. I used to be able to go outside and reliably maintain signal - now that isn't always so. Don't know if this is a function of my iPhone or the towers, but am very frustrated.

I've had 3 generations of iphones at this location and have rarely seen above 1 bar of phone service. (The data is no problem.) It's a shame that my phone can't be used as a phone.

Sprint

About 4-monts ago I started to loose reception on my Nextel network AT THE ABOVE LOCATION. I had this network for 4 plus years so this is something new to me. Now, I cannot make calls at all. Is their maintenance going on that will correct this problem? Time to leave Sprint... had I known at the time they are selling LTE devices with NO LTE NETWORK I never would have renewed my damn contract! What good is having one of the newest, best, fastest devices out if your stuck on 3G with no LTE turn-on date in the near future??!

T-Mobile

Get reception in my house, but when leaving area goes down to 1 or 2 bars, then none. I work in Center City, and I get zero reception 90% of the time. Instead of even 3G, I get the circle with a line through it. I have to reboot or walk towards Market St. to get reception, which is spotty at best. I've been with TMobile for 7 years, and I love my plan ($) and customer service, but the reception is absolute garbage. I will be cancelling my contract this week.

Very poor reception in my office on the 15th floor. Some days I can't make a call at all, so I end up using the land line. I don't know if it is an AT&T problem, but I am considering switching to Verizon. My coworkers have Verizon and have no problems at all.

I wonder if those of you who have such troubles are smart phone users. I have been with T-Mobile exclusively since I first got a cell phone in 2001 and only at the beginning - when I lived in the middle of Nowhere, Suburbia - did I have any trouble with reception. I moved to Near Civilization, Suburbia and my reception was suddenly great. Now, I live in the deep heart of Urban Dreck and my reception is outstanding. I drop maybe a couple of calls a month but my bars are always full. I have never had nor will I ever have a smart phone. Call me a snob but my phone works. Can you say the same?

I have 2 bars about 30 % of the time and an SOS instead of bars for the other 70 %. I have been in constant contact with T-Mobile for the past two months and they keep coming up with new things for me to try but in the end nothing works. I have to walk a block or two to gain reception. When I tell them how unhappy I am they remind me its only 100 dollars to break my contract.

I have some issues with data or getting connected and staying connected. I have pre paid and I have been having problems with the data portion of reception I pay $ 60.00 which includes unlimited talk and text and 2gs of data. The phone has been reset and checked. There is a problem with the towers, I suspect.

We have been dealing with this for a year now. Called ATT twice about it. We get 2 bars, then 3, then 1, then none. We drop calls all the time. It is embarrassing given that we use them for business. ATT is very bad. They keep sending me free minutes and discount certificates... all well and good until the phone drops during a client call. We need better competition.

Service has been spotty at best for past couple of weeks. My husband and my brother around the corner have had the same problem. Apparently there is a disintegrating ATT tower that needs to be fixed!

For the past month or so I have repeatedly lost both voice and data service inside my apt. not just on my Blackberry but also my netbook which is with A T and T. I have lived in this apt. for over 6 years and never had this issue until recently. I often am unable to get any signal at all for hours at a time which is frustrating and also very upsetting since I have no other phone.

Reception at home is poor and many times drops out all together. Very slow and not dependable for data. Phone is only a week old. New to T-Mobile and am starting to regret it.

Have to stand in the middle of the street to place a call, and it still fades in and out, and eventually (3-7 mins into call) will drop. Very frustrating and does not depend on time of day. DEFINITELY can't send multimedia texts from inside our outside my house, and if I hold the phone to the window indoors, _sometimes_ a plain text message will send.

A T and T service is terrible in my part of Lansdowne. It drops 4 out of 5 calls inbound and outbound. They want me to pay $200 for a Femtocell unit to give me the service that I am already paying for. By the way, I am located within sight of Philly's downtown buildings. That puts me in the midst of a huge population center, so what's their excuse?

Emergency Call / No Service inside my house, in my courtyard and back alley, outside my front door. Fine anywhere else. Crazy.

Everytime I drive down Walnut St.I lose service between 7th and 10th. This started about 6 months ago.

up until 3 weeks ago the signal was super strong, 5 bars all the time. Now as soon as I get in the area, I go to data roaming and 5 minutes later I have no signal at all. don't know what happened but I hope it gets fixed soon, I can't spend all this money and not be able to use the phone due to poor service.

I get 0 bars inside my apartment (2nd floor). Outside, I get 5 bars immediately. Other than inside my apartment, I've had excellent signal. That said, my iphone toting friend is frequently dropped off the network while we were walking and driving in the University City area!

Never had a problem in or around this area. Have had Sprint for several years and very surprised when I hear people talk smack about Sprint coverage yet I'm the one looking things up on my smartphone while my iPhone praising friends comment in disgust, "urgh. AT&T is so slow". I would have to say Sprint is just as good as Verizon in the Philly area.

T-Mobile

I have had very positive experiences with T mobile. I hear Verizon is good, as well. It's AT&T I am worried about. I was considering switching to the iphone, but with still so many complaints about service and dropped calls, I am hesitant. When I asked AT&T customer service about it, they said they have good coveraget in my area and are always improving. That wasn't specific enough for me. For now, I am sticking with T moble- their customer service is excellent and international service is also the most reasonable for periodic travel.
