Signal strength was good until about 3 months ago, then it dropped to almost nothing. Verizon ticket #657100 was open for a month and still Verizon could not explain the loss of signal in my area.

3 Out of 5 (3 stars) | City Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19131 |

Patchy reception in my building, even on my balcony. The (600) minutes make up for it though. Decent on most of the streets around here. Works great on this part of the I-76. The Phone has excellent battery life and only needs charging every 2-3 days depending on usage.

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Temple Univ. / Main Campus | 12th & Norris, Philadelphia, PA 19122 |

Great signal and reception outside, can't get a signal at all inside Temple buildings. At home (Lansdowne) I can go four days without charging my phone, one day at work and the battery's gone, it's trying so hard all day to get a signal.

Very static-y. On the other end, it sounds fine, but I hears all kinds of sounds.

Nextel

Very Poor Signal in this area. Most of my calls don't last but a few minutes and then get dropped (and this is while outside my house). If I am in my home, my phone will have no service for long periods of time. This is pretty sad considering I am on top of a hill overlooking the city of Philadelphia. I work in Plymouth Meeting, PA and the phone works excellent there.

Nextel

2 Out of 5 (2 stars) | City line Ave. | Lancaster Rd., Wynnewood, PA 19096 |

Mixed feelings about Nextel. Use Nextel all i2000 over the Philadelphia / Montgomery County / New Jersey area as well as in various cities in US. Love my indestructable phone. Happy that it works in Europe. Unhappy that I lose signals a lot, especially in more rural areas of Pennsylvania and western NJ. More importantly in my area of Montgomery county I get spotty service. The fact that it doesn't consistently work in my own home in Montgomery County is not good. Nextel needs to get some more towers going in the Philadelphia area.

T-Mobile

Just even being around this area on the UPenn campus makes the reception suffer. I always have to use a buddy's cell phone around here, and inside big buildings. There is no reception deep inside large buildings. Voicemail messages are received hours to days later.

This Phone sucks reception wise and I just go it. I turn it off then turn it back on and it says that I don't get any service and I bought this sell phone to use it not to carry around in my pocket all day hoping that I can get good reception in a different area

Utterly awful reception in apartment, top floor. Must dance around chasing signal with earpiece in. I am switching to Verizon soon. Went to AT&T because of earlier hours for night calling + work discount. Overall, it was not worth it. Cheers! 3-8-2004.
