I used to be an ATT Wireless customer until they merged with Cingular. For the last 2 years, I've had perfect reception in my apartment and around the DC-area. Over 3.5 weeks ago, reception in my apartment dropped along with spotty reception everywhere else, and service has not improved. Cingular has not been helpful only offering an explanation that they're converting old ATT towers -- a process that they don't expect to be completed until November! Plus, they've been less than generous with compensation for a phone that I can't use, not to mention the extra charges that I'm incurring on my home phone. Based on Cingular's refusal to deal with the problem in a customer-friendly way, I do not recommend them. Was this review helpful to you?
I usually get great reception, but after talking for a little while I will get this horrible static and people usually want to hang up, but I tell them to wait because it goes away after about 5-10 seconds. But then it might happen a few minutes later. It's very annoying. But their customer service is improving and that's important! And it would be nice to get reception in the Metro...Was this review helpful to you?
Surprisingly good reception, although my girlfriend has same provider, different phone, and doesn't have as good reception. My phone has decent signal inside and outside. Was this review helpful to you?
Inside my house, my reception drops to 1 or no bars. I often have to go outside to have a decent conversationWas this review helpful to you?
When I had AT&T and my v600 I usually got full bars in my house. I recently switched completely to Cingular and I have a v551 now, I get no more than 3 bars on the top floor of my house. With At&t, in my basement... full bars, now I get nothing. Was this review helpful to you?
Overall, I've had good reception all over the city (except Metro, of course!). Never had a dropped call, even in the basement of my building. Was this review helpful to you?
I can keep a call up the front steps of the house, but service inside depends on the season (no leaves = better signal but not great). Their signal map is about accurate for the house. Coverage has improved over the last couple of years but there are still irritating drop points. Cingular appears to have better signal in the house, but I am not thrilled with their pricing and contract length. Was this review helpful to you?
Verizon Wireless service is great throughout the entire city for the most part. Also very good for when I travel. I have service in the underground subway system in DC, New York and Boston. I haven't tried my cellphone underground in any other cities. Was this review helpful to you?
Verizon service in DC is excellent. I get wonderful service in the city and everywhere I travel. I even have a perfect signal underground in the DC METRO. There are a few dead spots in southeast DC but other than that, the city is covered very well. Was this review helpful to you?
We started with Verizon Wireless while living in Rhode Island. Never had any problems with our wireless service there. (Verizon DSL is another matter. Totally hosed.) Anyway, we moved to NW DC in May and neither of our two cell phones work worth a darn in our house, even in the second floor by the windows. Almost 100% of the calls at home get dropped. My wifes phone has an adapter plug for an external antenna. I bought one and it helps a lot. Trouble is I'm SOL when she's not here. I wish Verizon Wireless would look at their coverage just east of Wilson High School becuase it stinks. CAN YA HEAR ME NOW?Was this review helpful to you?
