Verizon has been fine while I'm driving around town, but in my house the reception is dreadful. A little less than half of my calls are ruined by the reception going in and out. I can't hear them, they can't hear me. I call back and then things are fine. I have no idea why. Other times the call is just dropped. Sometimes my phone won't ring at all and the call will go right to voice mail. My wife can't use her phone at work in Bedford because reception is poor. I don't call my friends anymore because all I say is "What?" and "How about now?" and "Hold on, let me try over by another window." I live half a mile north of Rivermont. My phone always shows two bars, but that doesn't seem to mean anything. Verizon. Yuck. Was this review helpful to you?
Just forget getting any kind of consistent reception. Was this review helpful to you?
Front porch good, back porch ok if I stand on one leg while holding a sauce pan lid pointed toward Jupiter. Inside the house it depends on where I stand (like near a window) and if something isn't in the way (like curtains). Overall, if you want to get away from it all, Appomattox is a great area (high-speed internet only in the town and spotty cell-reception.)Was this review helpful to you?
This is my main travel route, but service is weak in far too many areas, overall. I was happy with Alltell, but won't pay for what I don't receive... cell phone reception! I'm told that U.S. Cellular is one of the best for reception in and around the Lynchburg area. I'll be looking into them when my contract runs out here soon. Was this review helpful to you?
Alltel was horrible in my area. tried to use Alltel as an alternative to my home phone with no luck. Also no coverage on 460 W going into BedfordWas this review helpful to you?
I have great coverage in the entire Lynchburg area... is just listed this particular section because live in the area and do not have home phones... we depend on our cell phones for communication inside our homes and it works fantastic. made the mistake of going to Alltel for 2 weeks to try to save on cost and the coverage was horrific (same phone)Was this review helpful to you?
Dropping calls like no tomorrow ! ! I get one bar on phone, if you want to roam this is the place to be in Amherst VA, I called them more the 5 times to tell them, I was told to get a better plan with US cellular but it got worse, I have got to get a better carrier. In the far western portion of the Fort Hill area, there is either one bar or no reception with AT&T. If you're inside of a home, forget it. I know AT&T's 1900MHz signal has a notoriously poor reputation around the area, but when you're in the middle of the city, you'd expect at least 3 or 4 bars. In fact, I'd expect that anywhere within city limits. Lynchburg isn't that large of a town. Was this review helpful to you?
I have read a lot of comments and agree WE NEED MORE TOWERS! Reception through parts of Timberlake Rd, ( suck) For the past 6 mths or so I've had one problem or another and each time I call they blame the phone, this, that or the other and it has become such a hassle... ..I'm lucky here lately if I get one bar, and usually have to wear the blue tooth inside to talk at all. I hope ATT wakes and up and realizes we do more towers and espeically through certain parts of Timberlake Rd, they might be losing some good customers within the near future. Was this review helpful to you?
I've used Alltel and Verizon all around Lynchburg, Bedford, Forest, Roanoke, etc. These two are the best by far. Verizon uses Alltel's numerous towers in the area so these two rank at the same level. From what I understand, Verizon is putting up a tower in Lynchburg very soon which will bring full digital coverage for Verizon customers. I highly recommend Alltel or Verizon in the Lynchburg area. I would strongly caution against Sprint or TMobile in this area. They will get fine coverage in certain spots but not consistently like Alltel and Verizon. I have several friends and coworkers who have service through Sprint or TMobile who wish they could switch right now.Was this review helpful to you?
