Very Decent for our area. For the Verizon user talking about 4G lies, I can tell you that 4G is coming and soon. The Lynchburg Verizon towers currently are marked for burial of fiber optic cable which is needed for the 4G bandwidth and speeds. Additionally, Verizon is very committed to rural service delivery in our area. I know for a fact that they are expanding coverage in Amherst and Bedford counties. This is why I am willing to pay a little more for Verizon. To be fair. US Cellular should have 4G running in Lynchburg soon as well.

Nothing at my home in Ivy Hill. Can get a signal on Quail Ridge, better on Perrowville

T-Mobile

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Downtown, Lynchburg, VA 24504 |

I have been very happy with T-Mobile since I have been using them for the past month or so. I get 4-g coverage almost everywhere over town. Forest is a less, and out in Gladys is less as well, but I have been very happy with them.

Verizon

I think as of right now, Verizon has the best reception in the general area... I wish others would improve. I used to have AT&T and had to leave them.. I was one of the many people who had to leave their phone on the windowsill when I got home just to get barely 1 bar of coverage. I switched to Straighttalk (Verizon) and had great coverage all over town and in buildings... I never worried about a signal, but Straighttalk is not a very good wireless company, and I left them after a long time for T-Mobile. I have been very happy with T-mobile, and their coverage is almost as good as Verizon.

AT&T

5 Out of 5 (5 stars) | Fort Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24502 |

I have had AT&T for several years now and it works great in Lynchburg. EPIC SIGNAL! They keep adding towers in my area, my signal keeps getting better, and having the 3G is awesome! Not to mention their 3G is way faster than the competition, plus that speed is being upgraded as well, and then 4G is coming. Assuming all things stay the same, I will never switch!

While in Lynchburg, AT&T service is acceptable, but in transit to our home in Appomattox County on 460, AT&T service is horrible. Virtually no service on 460 from Mount Athos Rd.through Spout Spring area, and calls are dropped regularly. Trying to figure a way out of my AT&T contract.

I use a straight talk phone, which is pre-paid. My particular phone uses Verizon towers, and I have been pleased with the service so far! In my area, as long as you stay away from Nextel, you are good to go!

Sprint

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Pine Ridge Road / Craddock Creek, Huddleston, VA 24104 |

Used to have 5 bars and terrific data service (EV). Has degraded over the past year '10 - '11. Now I drop calls frequently, signal fades in and out continuously. Data icon goes from 1x to EV, back to ev, down to 1x again. Battery is use has grown due to all the signal searching.
