Sprint
They are trying but I do not think I will see even one more bar.

Sprint
Reception sucks and calls are dropped. Call quality is terrible. Sprint wanted me to pay another 120$ for a booster! Don't buy Sprint!

AT&T
Does not matter how many times I use "Mark to Spot" to report my issues to AT&T. Which has almost been a year now. AT&T has done NOTHING. Cell coverage by the Charlotte airport with AT&T is very poor and that is putting it mildly!

Verizon
I started with Verizon in Florida and could not get reception inside my house. Moved here and do not seem to have too much a problem. I can get and receive call inside and outside of the house. However, recently I was told that by someone they could not get through. It's a shame a city the size of Charlotte has such terrible phone reception among it carriers. I have been reading all the comments and none of the carriers seem to be outstanding.

T-Mobile
I can't believe T-Mobile is rated highest in Charlotte. I have T-Mobile (unfortunately), and where I live (around Kilborne Park on the east side), there is a reception, at most, one bar. I'm talking about being outside. If you're indoor (just in a house for example), forget it, there is absolutely no reception, anywhere in the entire area. It's ridiculous.

Verizon
Verizon Tech Support tells me that they lost a lease on a nearby cell tower in June 2012, resulting in poor coverage for customers in this area. I only get 2 bars inside my home and drop every call. They recommended a "network extender" for inside my home. If you're experiencing coverage problems in your area, please contact customer support to report the problem.

Sprint
Depends on the flow of traffic on Atando Avenue. 3-6 bars depending on the PRL.

Verizon
The intersection of Queens and Selwyn and Radcliffe, near Queens University, has become a "dead" zone in the last two months. I get reception inside my house with a "network extender" but no reception outside or within a 1-2 block area. What is the problem? This is new and we never had reception problems before. Anything to do with the construction at Queens University?

Verizon
Dead Spot on the main floor of Charlotte Convention Center from Verizon Wireless. You would think they would put in some sort of signal booster for a venue such as this! Especially with the Democratic National Convention coming to town. Come on Verizon, you can do it!

Verizon
In my apt. there is dropped calls, the buffering sucks&can't watch videos,tv on my cell,etc... can't play any games or do anything involving downloading including the internet. I currently have a 3g phone and want to upgrade to a 4g but I feel it'll be a waste of money unless I move away. I'm very disappointed because I chose Verizon based on the dead zone commercial I saw being that I knew my area wasn't the best.

i cannot get phone service inside my house... I must go out to the street to talk. my calls drop constantly. Verizon in 5 mins from uptown.. it doesn't work for me or my neighbors.

AT&T
Reception great, but no 3g. Have to go to Gastonia or Gaffney to get that. :(

Nextel
Queens University - Selwyn Rd.- Nextel Sucks bigtime. If you get enough signal to make a call, 4 out of 5 calls will be dropped before completion.

Sprint
I'm warning you - Sprint is HORRIBLE in Charlotte; Signal and Customer Service. I had Sprint when I moved to 28209 5 yrs ago and had no service inside my home. Switched to AT&T and loved it everywhere I travelled (I own a Real Estate company so I'm everywhere). I built a home in 28205 and and switched back to Sprint because they are cheap and now have horrible service again(For some reason it keeps getting worse) and I don't get voicemails until 12-24 hrs later. I tried switching phones and customer service wants to charge me $100 for a 5,000 sq. ft. Booster for the home, but will wave a $6 / mo fee if I sign another 2 yr contract (If that doesn't work and I cancel I'll pay the waived monthly fees). Does this sound fair? I just need a phone that works. Hindsight is 20 / 20. They had horrible customer service 5 yrs ago and when I was signing up 4 mos ago 2 of their customers were complaining and cancelling. However, I wanted to save a couple $$ / mo. and now I have to pay a $200 cancellation fee which is worth it to have a working phone.

Sprint
Depending on where I place the device in my condo, I get somewhere between 20% and 60%. 60% is the best reception I've received from the device.

Very poor reception in the area of Windsor Park that is closest to this intersection.

AT&T
When I'm in my house I get 1 bar of 3G half the time then itll switch to 1 bar of edge. When I go outside though I'll get around 4-5 bars immediately since AT&T have updated their towers in this area lately

AT&T
usually 3 bars around most spots... some holes in coverage around Southpark and other places... not great, not the worst...

Alltel
Have actually been dropped on a 911 call in my front yard. Not the best result to occur. Signal drops from 5 to 1 bar intermittently. Thank God I am out of the contract. I am debating a change in carriers, but after reviewing other results am not so sure any is better than others.

Alltel
Really sucks. Switches between analog and digital, never holding either long enough to generate or complete a call. Even walking outside gives little to no improvement. Elderly parent has a Nokia phone on my contract that is also useless from this location. Hope to God his landline never fails in the event of an emergency.

Verizon
Lousy reception, quite often phone does not even ring. 1-3 bars, but phone is barely useable for personal use, not useable for conducting business.

Poor reception for Verizon in Myers Park - Dilworth areas

AT&T
Coverage is spotty. Some days it's just fine, others I"m running in and out of the house trying to get a better signal.

Verizon
Just moved to this neighborhood and I can't get more than 2 bars on my phone. Reception is horrible if I get any at all... very patchy. I've never had such problems with reception and I've been using Verizon for 6 years. Definitely going to have to get a land line which sucks. Haven't had a land line in probably 5 years.

Alltel
I've been a customer since 2000, and for the most part have been fairly satisfied with their service. Lately though reception doesn't seem as good and I'm dropping more calls. Last year I had an issue with my phone and was basically told that I was not a new customer and was in the middle of a contract so they were not pbligated to be be too nice to me... I just purchased an unlocked Blackberry and since my contract is now doe, am shopping around...

Verizon
My boyfriend and I both have Verizon, he with a Motorola Razr and me with a Nokia phone. We both have very poor reception and have had lots of dropped calls in the neighborhood.

AT&T
Coverage is spotty within the house. Out in Charlotte I usually get good reception except around Sharon / Runnymeade where there is a definite black spot in coverage.

AT&T
I am on the top floor of an apartment and have to stand on my balcony to get clear reception. Occasionally I'll see full signal but it disappears as soon as it shows up. At least I avoided the $400 iPhone temptation and went with the free Nokia. I'll eventually have to get a land / cable line if service doesn't improve. That's cheaper than falling on the sword and switching carriers.

AT&T
Our phones (2 nokias, 1 samsung) sometimes don't even ring here - we have from 0 to 1 blip / bar reception - and that is standing outside! AT and T says there are no towers at all near here. I think The Charlotte Country Club needs to give up some land for one of those "pine tree" towers...

AT&T
Only areas with trouble are in 200 and 300 blocks of Hempstead Place, where there is virtually no coverage, and in Foxcroft Rd.area of Foxcroft. Otherwise, nearly always 5 bars. Also great everywhere in NC except mountains, where it is a brick.

AT&T
No reception inside house. Can only catch every third word of a caller while standing in the driveway.

Verizon
Usually don't have any reception issues here. Sometimes I get voice mails and txt messages after a long delay, but that's probably due to my phone or their network as opposed to signal strength.

Outside of home is OK. Inside of house is terrible!

AT&T
Cingular / AT&T is the worst. The reception all over Charlotte is spotty. I have called them several times. I'm just going to switch. I'm even cancelling my home phone with Bellsouth because they are all the same company now.

US Cellular
Great reception BUT Do not use this cell phone company unless you are residing in Eastern NC! I just moved and am facing staggering bills upwards of $400 when I only used to pay $65 a month due to the use of "other cell towers, which cause a huge fee to US Cellular." Then I was told I breached my contract by moving away from Eastern NC. I am looking for a carrier here but looks like no one is happy. Does anyone have any good reccomendations???

AT&T
I don't know if it is the Razr or Cingular / Att. I had a Motorola v551 before and it was better, but I still had bars fluctuating all over the place with both. I'm tending to think that the Cingular / now ATT towers suck in Charlotte

Verizon
I can use mine in the elevator... never had a dropped call in this area!

Sprint
Sprint reception in this area is horrible. I cannot have any phone converstations from home, always have to use Landline. Yet, going towards South blvd the reception increases to 4 bars within 4 blocks. Seems like a technical glitch that can be fixed by Sprint it they tried.

T-Mobile
Moved to charlotte from florida and T-Mobile has only roaming coverage. Roaming service should be provided by Cingular, but the SunCom signal keeps interfering. Teh result is my phone keeps bouncing between Cingular and SunCom. I miss incoming calls and often cannot make outboud calls. Not even manually setting the network resolves the issue.

Verizon
We just moved here from Durham where we had perfect reception and coverage. Here, our phones work spottily. Sometimes they don't ring, sometimes they do. More often then not, I guess they do, but it isn't dependable. Walking around the house talking on the phone yields spotty service often correctable by moving 3 inches in one direction or another. Talking near a window doesn't help much. Nor does talking outside. FWIW, my parents have Alltel and their phones work perfectly in every corner of my house, including the basement.

Day to day the signal varies wildly. Consistancy is much needed...

AT&T
Second verse, same as the first... virtually no reception in the building, little on the grounds, better as you get back on the street.

I have horrible reception here. Everywhere else -- Independence Blvd.for example I have full bars. I even had full bars in Williamsburg, VA! But right here in this area (close to Eastland Mall), the reception SUCKS.

Perfect reception in my home and surrounding neighborhood.

Nextel
I drop calls between 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. everday. I lose reception for minutes at a time. Brick building or wood frame house it does not matter. Speaker phone is fuzzy so is regular sound. I hate my phone. Should have stayed with Verizon.

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
AT&T is not THAT bad, but it is not great either. The phone itself and service plan are simply OK, but I am also looking at staggering bills and lost signals. The bottom line: I'm looking for another carrier... are you?

Nextel
Generally VERY good reception. A few dead spots - part of John Belk Frwy and part of Independence near uptown when windy / rainy. Radio (walkie-talkie, touch to talk, etc) can be VERY frustrating sometimes, though.

AT&T
If I go anywhere within 100 yards away from the building, service is OK. It's just in the building and on the grounds that the reception is dead.

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
Good reception as long as I stay outdoors. AT&T GSM doesn't do well indoors.
