Sprint
Cell reception is very weak in the areas of South-Southeast Charlotte and around the UNCC area. Frequently on 1x (lower than typical 3G speeds) data. Calls are not clear at all.

Sprint
Hard time making or receiving calls inside the house. Data is very slow. VZ works well at our house but I dont want to pay x2 what I m paying now. The only reason I m still with Sprint is the Sero Account that is very cheap. Also, I live in LTE area but I have yet to experiance it! I hope they do something about it soon.

T-Mobile
Rarely ever under 5 bars in the Charlotte area. I have an Iphone 4s unlocked, I do miss the not having 3g / 4g but I got it because of a promotion of 30$ unlimited text / web and 100 mins talk and T-Mobile is building 3g / 4g towers specifically compatible with Iphones with their project due date new years or so. Reception is great unless I go towards Monroe which depending on the building can be anywhere from no Signal to 4 bars, I do get my usual 100% coverage anywhere else though.

US Cellular
My husband and I have a 2nd home in Mint Hill and travel there 1-2 times a month. We never have a dropped call with our US Cellular service even though we are roaming because there is no US cellular service in the Charlotte area. Our friends who live in Mecklenburg Co. Borrow our phone to make calls when we are there because their services with AT&T. Verizon, Cricket ect is so bad that they are always dropping calls or have no service. When I called US Cellular to find out what the solution would be if we moved to Mint Hill permanently I was told by corporate that I would be denied US Cellular continuesd service when we moved because it would cost the company too much money to pay for 100% roaming. There is no plans to ever bring US Cellular to the area. So we either don't move or settle for crappy service like everyone else we know who already lives there. There is something grossly wrong with that picture. Don't you think.

Sprint
Dropped calls all day long. We are constantly asking callers to repeat themselves the signal is horrible. We are no longer under contract thus we are shopping around for better service. We have been with Sprint a very long time but cannot continue with such bad reception service.

Verizon
I started with Verizon in Florida and could not get reception inside my house. Moved here and do not seem to have too much a problem. I can get and receive call inside and outside of the house. However, recently I was told that by someone they could not get through. It's a shame a city the size of Charlotte has such terrible phone reception among it carriers. I have been reading all the comments and none of the carriers seem to be outstanding.

T-Mobile
I can't believe T-Mobile is rated highest in Charlotte. I have T-Mobile (unfortunately), and where I live (around Kilborne Park on the east side), there is a reception, at most, one bar. I'm talking about being outside. If you're indoor (just in a house for example), forget it, there is absolutely no reception, anywhere in the entire area. It's ridiculous.

AT&T
This area is marked "Good" on the coverage map but it is not good. Moderate is all we can say. I can't count on my phone to work. I miss calls all the time. I would put up an external antenna if I knew which one to use and how to get the antenna connected to my phone. I need some help.

Sprint
The data is really slow, I am recieving more and more dropped calls even though it shows good signal. Even sometimes, it takes up to 2-3 hours for the area to allow calls again. Text messages are not going through and data is poor!

AT&T
Zero to poor reception in this area, inside or outside of the house. Be wary that coverage map shows an area of "adequate" reception in the hole geographically here. Husband and I both have AT&T several years and we often have no service when at home, however AT&T is best I've used everywhere ELSE in the country. Watch out if you live near here don't travel.

Verizon
In my apt. there is dropped calls, the buffering sucks&can't watch videos,tv on my cell,etc... can't play any games or do anything involving downloading including the internet. I currently have a 3g phone and want to upgrade to a 4g but I feel it'll be a waste of money unless I move away. I'm very disappointed because I chose Verizon based on the dead zone commercial I saw being that I knew my area wasn't the best.

T-Mobile
Reception is generally very good outdoors and in smaller buildings in Charlotte. I usually get about 4 bars everywhere in the city. I have also noticed a significant increase of service inside buildings on campus over the past 2 months. 3G speeds run between 2 and 4 Mbps.

Verizon
Phone is unusable in Mint Hill area near 485. Will try another carrier when I find a good one.

AT&T
Love my new Sansung Sunburst, but will be returning it tonight. Looks great, takes a good picture, but no reception in my office and drops calls on campus and on the road back to Concord each day. My KRZR works great, so I am digging it out of the drawer and will continue to use it until I can find a GOOD replacement.

Sprint
Drop calls inside and have to be outside to talk. I've called them but get nothing from them to help, unless I want to get a booster that will cost me more monthly. I'm looking for another carrier and will pay the contract fee. Beware of the 3 / 4 G cards. Overage fees on 3 G are horrific!

Sprint
I'm warning you - Sprint is HORRIBLE in Charlotte; Signal and Customer Service. I had Sprint when I moved to 28209 5 yrs ago and had no service inside my home. Switched to AT&T and loved it everywhere I travelled (I own a Real Estate company so I'm everywhere). I built a home in 28205 and and switched back to Sprint because they are cheap and now have horrible service again(For some reason it keeps getting worse) and I don't get voicemails until 12-24 hrs later. I tried switching phones and customer service wants to charge me $100 for a 5,000 sq. ft. Booster for the home, but will wave a $6 / mo fee if I sign another 2 yr contract (If that doesn't work and I cancel I'll pay the waived monthly fees). Does this sound fair? I just need a phone that works. Hindsight is 20 / 20. They had horrible customer service 5 yrs ago and when I was signing up 4 mos ago 2 of their customers were complaining and cancelling. However, I wanted to save a couple $$ / mo. and now I have to pay a $200 cancellation fee which is worth it to have a working phone.

Verizon
Reception in Mint Hill, NC area is barely adequate. Signal has improved slightly is past three months, but does not perform as noted on Verizon's coverage map for the area.

T-Mobile
Very poor reception in the area of Windsor Park that is closest to this intersection.

Alltel
Really sucks. Switches between analog and digital, never holding either long enough to generate or complete a call. Even walking outside gives little to no improvement. Elderly parent has a Nokia phone on my contract that is also useless from this location. Hope to God his landline never fails in the event of an emergency.

Verizon
Lousy reception, quite often phone does not even ring. 1-3 bars, but phone is barely useable for personal use, not useable for conducting business.

T-Mobile
near perfect phone service, had alltel. switched to T-Mobile and feel way better. I feel like they care about my feedback (they called my the first week I got the phone and asked about the service!). great signal in every place, just have to reset the phone sometimes to make it run smoother(easy and painless) because its a pda.

AT&T
It's really abyssmal here, but it may just be this lousy Pantech C300 phone.

Alltel
Alltel has been my only cell carrier and I have had several phones with them Nokia, Motorola, and LG. All work well and I have roamed in NC, SC and Chicago with no problems. My one small complaint is sometimes voicemail messages arrive late or somehow I miss the notification but it doesn't happen often and it's not a big deal.

AT&T
Coverage is spotty. Some days it's just fine, others I"m running in and out of the house trying to get a better signal.

Verizon
Just moved to this neighborhood and I can't get more than 2 bars on my phone. Reception is horrible if I get any at all... very patchy. I've never had such problems with reception and I've been using Verizon for 6 years. Definitely going to have to get a land line which sucks. Haven't had a land line in probably 5 years.
