My personal phone is Verizon. Dropped calls about 40% of the time, static or bad connection another 40% of the time. My work cell phone is through AT&T. Perfect. Verizon phones are iPhones, Work phone is Samsung Galaxy. If that makes any difference. Considering switching carriers for our personal phones.

In Charlotte visiting family and have absolutely no service. Arrived at the airport and couldn't even let family know I had arrived. Very disappointed.

My wife and I have had good reception in most all areas of Charlotte. I think you get what you pay for as Verizon is about the most expensive vendor in Charlotte.

4G coverage in Uptown is usually no more than one or two bars. In my building it's just one bar, which may be expected since indoor coverage is affected by so many factors. Service routinely switches to 3G, so coverage seems to always be right on the edge making surfing the Web slow and frustrating. This results in my battery draining quickly while in town. Seems like service was better a few months ago so I've been wondering if a tower is down or if a roaming agreement for this area has changed and affected the service. Bottom line is I have not been pleased with my service for a while. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and it's in good working order, but other Verizon customers in my building report the same bad service issues using a variety of different phones.

I drove from nations Ford to Cameron Valley Prky. Dropped 7 calls. 4 to customer service. Hilarious! They gave me 25 dollar credit. Absolutely a joke. I'm not sure what happened. It is just terrible. Used to laugh about dropped calls because I never had them happen. Now my friends are the ones laughing.

Three bars at best outdoors for 4G and only one bar indoors. Quite frustrating.

T-Mobile

This is amazing. I was with T-Mobile - reception from day one was terrible but coverage map was 100%. Called and called and called. Finally they would not meet me but said they came out and coverage was fine. I said I would sign up for a four year contract if they could make or receive a call inside my house - they never responded. Now been with Verizon for 4 - can't call from house - not clear enough but better - but can't use as primary phone. So I researched T-Mobile - SURELY after four years it is better. Unable to find one single review that is good and we are larger than Atlanta? Verizon could not quote me correctly, three incorrect quotes - now charging $30 to upgrade a basic phone - (wow that was the last incentive) - terrible - so now they charge $150 to lock me into a two year contract. Then they are only willing to take $50 off a booster to keep me - 5 phones at home - 4 at office - gees... .. I would switch in a heart beat but everyone sucks in this market. T Mobile - Sprint - no good reviews - ATT Verizon same price. What a market.. If Virgin ever comes in 100% and gets coverage - they will shut everyone down. Both T Mobile and Verizon are worse four years later? WOW we really do live in the age of faster better lower priced tech. Wrong. Wish I could just terminate all the phones. Most frustrating process ever and it is a freaking cell phone.

I have had Sprint service for many years. I have noticed the quality of the reception / coverage going down. It is so bad now that I drop calls 5-6 a day and am constantly asking others to please repeat themselves because I cant hear them. It is hard to conduct business on the phone and be professional when you drop calls.

AT&T

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Brief Rd.(between 218 and 601), Charlotte, NC 28227 |

Moved out of Matthews and into the rural Mint Hill area. Went from having 2 or 3 bars of LTE down to 1 at best; most of the time I get kicked down to 4G. Reception is non-existent inside my house, have to be within inches of a window or go outside. Sucked it up and bought a Microcell from AT&T and it fixed our reception problem in the house, we now have full bars. Down side, if we are arriving home or leaving home while on the phone, we lose the call as it either switches to or from the Microcell. I can't beat the service plan I have with my family due to the discounts I receive through work, but I would switch to Verizon in a second if they could match the price.

Very poor reception in the building. Regardless of floor. You have to be in the park before you have a decent signal. Dissapointed in Verizon, this is a major metropolitan. They should have stronger towers.

Sprint has absolutely the worst coverage I have ever experienced. Every time I ask they tell me that the system is being upgraded, HOW LONG MUST WE WAIT. This has gone on for so long that after 17 years with them I have had enough.

Husband and I have NO reception in our condo. Rarely, we can receive calls at home if we stand in one 2 ft sq area pressed up against the window. Even more rarely, we can place a call from that same spot. He also has NO reception in his Manhattan office. We have to use WiFi / Skype to call anyone. And lately Skype has been crashing on our Nokia Lumia 820 and 920. We're about to pay $340 to get out of our contracts. Epi Center reps said there would be more towers and improved reception come fall. It's worse than ever.

Sprint

My wife and I chose Sprint because of the low cost plans, but there is no way I can make you understand how bad their phone and internet reception is because it's a constant battle. We do not get reception in our home, or our previous home (have to talk near a window or on the patio). I own a company and my wife is in Real Estate and we do business in the Clt Metro Area and are price conscious consumers. We often lose phone calls while driving in Charlotte. Its rare to get 4G or LTE service. Most is 3G or less which means that the internet doesn't work. We've had Sprint for 7 years and have explained our issues to Sprint and they gave us a free Airave to boost our service, but it didn't work and actually hindered the wi-fi inside our home. We are fed up and have decided to pay $500 to cancel our contracts + the extra $30 / mo for phone and internet service that actually works with Verizon or AT&T. I can't tell you how many times we'll be with friends and everyone else has internet or phone service and we have none or ours just works painfully slow. Think about their business model - Their plans are very cheap, and they don't have more customers than Verizon or AT&T so how can they pay for a network comparable to Verizon or AT&T? I don't think they can.

I either have no reception or one to two bars of service at best. Crossing the city I can easily drop 5+ calls in 20 mins. The ONLY place that has perfect service is downtown. I live 5 mins from center city and I have no coverage at my house. Thankfully I buy extra internet to at least run my phone off wi-fi to notify someone in case of an emergency by text or email. My contract is over Oct 1st. I am shopping new companies. This has been ongoing for at least over a year. I would have changed before however I was in a contract. I also have spoken to other Sprint users and they have the exact same problem. You would think that in a city with over one million people we could have at least the minimum standard coverage.

Good coverage for most of Charlotte, with some holes. I had a terrible LG prepaid phone so not sure if this caused the dropped calls or if it was the network.

On an iPhone service continuously fluctuates between no signal and three bars with data showing E (2G). With LTE upgrades still going on iPhones are having issues in this area.
