AT&T
Very poor coverage in Magnolia Greens. We have a part time home here, and if we're lucky we get one bar most times. This really makes me mad because when we went with AT&T we specifically asked them about this location sine we spend a lot of time here. They "checked " their system and basically lied to us!

I must stand not sit by a sliding glass door and maybe I can make a call. My Apple 5 will wander from 1 bar to 2 and to no service and back again.

I live at holden beach nc, I have cricket wireless 20gb per month, unlimited talk n text for 55 dollars per month. Sitting inside my house I have 4g lte with between 3 and 4 bars, did a speed test and i'm getting exactly what cricker advertises 8.03 mbps down and around 7mbps upload. Cricket is downgraded from AT&T customers and I know that, I travel around the area alot works everywhere i've been even on green swamp rd. between supply and bolton, I have zero complaints, cricket may not be the fastest but you get what they advertise, and data works fine for everything I need to do, watching youtube no problem. I had boost mobile and they are usless in rural areas, Rock on Cricket!

USCellular worked great but didn't have the coverage my husband, an over the road truck driver needed! USCellular charged him outrageous prices. So, we switched to Verizon. Great for him, AWFUL for me in Rocky Point, NC. When we switched to Verizon... I thank the lord we kept our land line, otherwise I'd never be able to hear or respond to calls on Verizon! I just shout in the phone the landline home phone number to recall me on! Soooo disappointed with Verizon in Pender County, NC!

We pay over $200 / mo. and the trying to use the internet makes me feel like beating my head against the wall (slow!). Replaced devices and sim cards. Lots of wasted time speaking to CS. I have complained to Verizon for over 2 years. Options are limited in rural areas. Timewarner is not an option at all.

I am on straight talk on the AT&T netowork, I use my service from myrtle beach to wilmington on a regular basis and it works great, it even works indoors at holden beach area, no problems what so ever.

Used to get 4-5 bars of reception, got a new phone and Ellipsis Wi-fi 3 months ago. 1-2 bars now, dropping calls continuously. I have unlimited data and wonder if I'm being throttled? Have been with Verizon since the Alltel buyout. Always great service and reception, but no longer do.

Get three plus bars most locations, sometimes drop to 1 bar but even then can make and receive calls. I did have a Motorola but reception bad returned for Samsung.

WILLARD, NC (.5 miles from Hwy. 11, 1 mile from I-40) Straight Talk over VERIZON network: rarely get over 2 bars and sometimes, none show except as gray. Usually can make, receive calls and texts, with occasional dropped calls. Internet is very slow to load. US Cellular here: We were USC customers for over 12 years. Until about 2 years ago, when they did not renew their contract to use Verizon towers, we had exemplary service. Once the contract with V ended, reception went to poor and at times, no service at all. Rural ENFIELD, NC area (2 miles south of Hwy. 561 and about the same from Ringwood Rd. and Johnny Johnson Rd.). My parents also had to leave US Cellular for poor or no reception after many years of strong signals, and have had about the same results from Verizon as I do... best there is for the area. US Cellular used to be THE cellular company for rural areas in NC where no other service worked, but they managed to ruin that completely - just about the time of their "Belief Plan" launch. I spent countless hours on calls to techs, trying to figure out why reception had gone to Hades. All in all, it boiled down to signals trying to "jump" to nearby Verizon towers, with signals that were stronger than USC. DEFINITELY recommend that anyone who is in Verizon territory, go with Straight Talk. No contract, and $45 / mo. for unlimited calls and text, and ample data. If it quits working, at least you aren't stuck with a fat fee for cancelling a contract. NOTE: depending on your area, different phones through Straight Talk work on different networks. KNOW first what co. is strongest in your area, then buy a phone that works on that carrier!
