AT&T

We started with AT&T when the iPhone came out -- and it just gets worse and worse. Dropped calls ALL the time -- which they tried to blame on Apple. AT&T is NOT a good carrier for Milwaukee... or really anywhere. So frustrating!

Verizon

This has been going on for 2 years and I am so tired of it. it will be addressed... . or we are adding new towers every day. well I invite Verizon to put a booster in my yard because I have 4 phones and the signal sucks at times. so bad I can't even make a call. right now I hardly have a signal. 200.00 bucks a month with you and bad signal almost always. if I stand on one foot while leaning on my mail box its better.i am just so frustrateted. and were I work which is very close to the freeway it is also bad.

No towers close enough. Had to add an IP booster in the home for cells to work properly.

Have had Verizon for years in other parts of Milwaukee with happy results. Moved to Riverwest this month and can only get a signal once in a while.

US Cellular

Excellent service everywhere. Buy a phone(UPrepaid), take it home, CHECK SIGNAL STRENGTH and then pay for the service. I had Virgin (1-2 out of 5 bars)Uses Sprint towers Boost(1-2 out of 5 bars)uses Sprint Towers I had Verizon from 1998-2007 has 3-4 out of 5 bars but clarity was not good. I still have the phones and checked signal strength today. I had a USCell contract from 2007-2009.The overage charges were the final straw. Then switched to prepaid. I now have UPrepaid (4of 5 bars everywhere!)from Walmart is a reseller of USCellular The flip phone is crystal clear. $30 for 1,000 min. $40 unlimited talk text and too much internet for a flip phone. $50 android unlimited But, limited phone options so far.The service started this summer.

Verizon

Verizon coverage is excellent in this area. I get 5 / 5 bars in my house, and even 4 bars in the basement. Data is strong and consistent. I have not had a dropped call or quality issues in the area.

US Cellular

Nice phone, horrible service, deceptive sales staff regarding actual coverage. They promised me national service on Verizon towers, and I required that kind of coverage as an over-the-road trucker. When at home the service was okay, consistently 1-2 bars of signal. There were a lot of calls that ended up garbled or with a really bad feedback echo. I would be forced to use the speakerphone function or Bluetooth headset and set the phone down, since the weak signal required the phone remain stationary, and I liked to pace when on the phone (old habit). When it was time to go to work, however, I discovered a serious problem with their service. It seems that US Cellular is NOT the national carrier they claimed to be, they would later admit they are a regional carrier operating primarily in the upper midwest, and they sell excess bandwidth for Verizon. As a result, when they do an over-the-air update, you must be in your home area to get the update. On two such updates, I wasn't home, I was at work, so I din't get the updates. As a result, on both occasions my phone could only make calls through Verizon, who I had to provide a credit card number to in order to make very short, and very expensive but necessary phone calls. I ended up going 38 days out of the first 45 days I had the phones without actual service, costing me hundreds of dollars. I asked to be able to return the phones and to get my money back that I paid for the devices, and to have my contract cancelled. Their response to the request was to put me into collections once they received the phones back. Like I said, nice phones, but this company qualifies as the worst I had ever done business with.

T-Mobile

I originally had T-Mobile, an when my contract ended I switched to Simple Mobile, which uses T-Mobile towers exclusively. I was also an over-the-road trucker, so for me consistent coverage is just as important as a large coverage area. I've never been disappointed with coverage, availability of service, or call quality with either T-Mobile or Simple Mobile. Most of the dropped calls I experience happen when in a call with another cell phone user. The rest occur when I am on the edge of the signal coverage, or near a building or other structure emitting a lot of RF interference. I do not use the phone for data very often, but when I do it works about how I expect it to. The main data usage is to check and clear emails, and to use Google Maps to find out how to get from point A to point B when my GPS decides to play dumb. I bought the phone and paid for service primarily for what a phone is for, making and receiving calls. So long as that works the way it does now, I'm a happy camper.

Terrible service, all of the time. Continuous dropped calls.

T-Mobile

I have no trouble with cell reception in my home or around South Milwaukee with the exception of Little League field and the absolute lakeshore beyond 7 Bridges.

US Cellular

I have an old Motorola razor, great reception, but it's time for a data plan and I wish there was more info re: us cell on this site... .

Sprint

Very poor reception inside buildings in the area. Terrible data speeds in the entire metro-Milwaukee area, even when next to Sprint towers. Very few problems with dropped calls, despite poor reception, however if you plan to view web pages or utilize any sort of a data connection, do yourself a favor and choose another carrier; The cheap price and lure of "Unlimited" data are tempting, but it's not worth it when it takes you 1-2 minutes to load a webpage, and frequent connection errors.

AT&T

No service for half the time and very poor signal. Can't believe this is happening at downtown!

Verizon

Got ok coverage from verizon. Have gotten only a few dropped calls. Other than the price its good.

T-Mobile

I am very happy with T Mobile and I have been with most major carriers... ... Dont get me wrong US Cellular is solid in area... .And of course Verizon Has towers that hung every corner of map, which gives great service most of time. But that being said your paying twice as much then T Mobile which in my opinion is great, no problems no dropped calls, super fast data. The fastest I ever had. So, in conclusion I would recommend TMobile to people living in SE WI.

Terrible reception on my street. Within 3 blocks of my home reception drops off a cliff. Goes from hovering around -80dbm down to -120 dbm on my block.

Within wood building I receive very poor reception; 1 bar of "Edge" service. Outside I can pull 1 or 2 bars of 3G but the data is very slow.

Phone reception has gotten worse over the last few weeks. I am not sure what happened, but I can barely hold a conversation when I am in my house. My neighbors who also have Verizon are also having issues lately.

I have to comment on the person on North River Trail Dr. I her what you are saying. I live downtown and my service is terrible. I mysef have also been with Sprint tooo many years. I have to say this past year has been the worst. Customer service is terrible both in the stores and on the phone. No one cares and they do nothing. I have my contract till 2014. YUK

T-Mobile

I haven't dropped a call on a cell phone provider in the city of Milwaukee since 2004. There are tall houses in the neighborhood but this is unacceptable. It's 2012. We are not a 3rd world county.

AT&T

I've never seen more than one bar of reception inside my home. Weather-permitting, I am able to receive a decent signal if I stand in the exact middle of my backyard, but being Wisconsin, that isn't always possible. The neighbors whom I've spoken with have the identical problem. AT&T signal strength is piss poor in this area.

Typically get 0 to 1 bar for reception in the house. We get no service when in our basement (we have a finished basement and don't even bring our cell phones down there as they wont work). We drop calls everyday day and it is so frustrating. Don't go with Sprint if you live near the same crossroads as we do!

I know this is not the right avenue but I am looking for any and all help to find the hit and run driver who put my daughter in the hospital at this intersection on June 26th and wondering if there is a way to view cell phone tower records for days / times? ANYthing that you can think of to help in my tracking this person down would be GREATLY appreciated -- I will be offering a reward for information and for the capture of this coward. This person was headed from Oklahoma onto Howell, going West early in the morning (6:30-6:45) on June 26th and would have received extensive damage to front end, hood and windshield so thinking may have pulled over someplace close (in Humboldt Park?) and made a phone call. Again, I know this is not the right venue but looking for any means possible to track them down. I flew in from Colorado to care for my daughter who lives in Bay View and has had multiple surgeries and TBI. I can be reached at 719-641-1931. THANK YOU!

The last time we complained they said "We cannot help your signal you are in an area with 5 towers servicing you." We can not recieve a call in our house, if by chance it does ring you have to run to the end of the driveway to talk!

Went with Verizon for I pad (using oaid cellular data) because thier maps indicated service in area! NOT! Yet for 1st time in yeas my AT&T cell (iphone4) is getting minimal connection on text! I am NOT a happy camper!

most of the sales rep.'s at the stores are assholes but the customer rep.'s over the phone are great... Love the service and the extras they offer... We have five lines and we pay less then two-hundred a month... . sprints coverage is great for us, even stayed with 5 out of 6 bars within the court house damn!! Love sprint...

US Cellular

this is for a business where we need to be able to talk to clients and I want to cry, we had great service then someone decided it would be cheaper to go with verizon... .huge maistake ! everyone is having issues with calls. you cant understand each other, dropped calls constantly and this is just the second day of our new service.

Virgin Mobile

All my calls go to voicemail and I get notified later. This happens in many other locations. Stay away from Virgin Mobile.
