After moving to an area where everyone and their mother is on T-Mobile / Metro PCS, I got sick of paying over $120 / mo for basically only being able to call. Texting wouldn't always go through and "LTE" speeds were laughable at a consistent 0.14 Mbps with up to a 165ms ping. My coverage is a lot better especially in downtown and goldcoast area. I get great data speeds now and benchmark tests hit up to 33.6Mbps. So far I'm very satisfied with the quality of service but I have not yet traveled outside of Cook County yet. I have an unlocked T-Mobile Samsung Note 3 and I do get excellent LTE service with AT&T in Chicago.

Verizon was great while living in the NYC area... but upon moving back home to Chicago, it's been abysmal. In our condo... the reception is horrid and we have dropped calls daily. Next to Sprint, this is the worst cell phone service experience I've ever had. We live on the 1st floor of a condo bldng- even walking outside for a possible better signal isn't possible.

I have called T-Mobile technical support so many times it's not even funny! The only answer each time I call is that it's the cell phone towers! I have a little drop calls here and now but the data service is nonexistent 4G and LTE! If I want to use the Internet I have to go outside of my building and walk on a Open corner and I find that very ridiculous knowing that t-Mobile supposed to have the strongest networks or at least one of the strongest ! And reading the comments it seems as if customers have the same problem also! So my question is when does this problem get resolved? I would like to stay with the company but i'm pretty sure like other customers patients are very thin because of an ongoing situation that seems as if it's getting ignored!

I've used all of the carriers in the Chicago area over the past several years and have personal experience with each. Verizon is the best hands-down in terms of all around coverage and data speed. All carriers have dead spots, Verizon has the fewest in my experience. Ignore all the bad reviews from people on here who expect "5 bars" and blazing speeds while indoors and / or in a highrise building. All carriers fail miserably in this scenario. Verizon has the least amount of fail. I currently live in a highrise and use a network extender from Verizon and calls connect through my internet connection and are perfect. Couldn't care less about data speed while at home, that's what home internet is for.

Cell receptions is ok at two bars but data is basically non-existent. Benchmarks at .14 MPS. Since latency is quite good at 26ms this is clearly a capacity issue. Was much better 6 months ago. T Mobiles success in attracting new subscribers has resulted in much lower data speeds everywhere I go. WIFI call however is an excellent feature.

AMEN AMEN thought I was the only one with zero speed! Text that won't go through. Internet searches that are on spin. And I can hear people... but apparently I break up? Why AT&T. WHYYYYY.
