Verizon
Reception out west is good... the further you go from the city the worse it gets... I could suggest Verizon though because of their Customer Service and the fact that I get better reception that other people I know with different services.

There's no reception on my block, even outside. However, if I walk to the end of the block to Western I get three bars.

Get dropped calls. Can't hear the other person speak at times. Poor signal all together. I have used sprint, verizon, and tmobile. All of them are about the same in this location. Used sprint in atlanta, nashville, knoxville, and greenville, sc....worked great in those locations. I haven't been able to find anything that works good here...in downtown Chicago. I live on the 14th floor of an apartment with 20 stories...I believe this has something to do with it. Sprint and Verizon are on cdma networks and tmobile, cingular(new subscribers) are on gsm. Both of these networks suck equally here. I might opt for Nextel.....anybody know anything about Nextel in the chicago area?

Without fail, I get thrown off my phone every single day driving on the expressway (90/94) at this location. There is a forest preserve here.

Chose the qrong provider in my earlier review. I have just switched to AT&T GSM from AT&T TDMA. With the NEC 525, no signal at home. 1-2 bars up on the 42nd floor in the loop. Going to try the Nokia 6200 and hope for improvement.

Just switched from AT&T TDMA to AT&T GSM and am regretting it at home. Trying the Nokia 6200 or the SE T616 to see if GSM reception improves.

AT&T is the worst carrier in Chicago. My phone has no signal more than strong signal. I wish I could say it was my phone or the TDMA, but all my friends have AT&T GSM and they concur with my opinion. Dead spots all over the city, dropped calls daily. It is so bad, I leave an outgoing message on my cell phone to call me at an alternate number. Friends have same problems with GSM. Stay away from AT&T, that's my advise. I will probably go with T-Mobile or Cingular, but, need more info on their reception

Reception is usually acceptable (but not particularly strong) outside and inside residences.
