I can honestly say that Alltel seems to have the best coverage, in and around Wichita, of any of the major carriers. I had Verizon for a long time(3 years) and my girlfriend had Alltel. After a few years of dating, we noticed that there were a number of occassions in which I would have to use her phone because mine (Verizon) didn't have coverage. South and West of Wichita in the more rural communites, Alltel wins hands-down. Inside of Wichita, it's about even. I'm actually using Sprint now because I have / love the Samsung Instinct but still rate the top three carriers, in order of best coverage, as Alltel, Verizon and Sprint. Was this review helpful to you?

I had AT&T for more than 10 years, with almost non-existent reception at my house. After calling them to complain for years, and them promising it will get better soon, I switched to Sprint. No problem getting 5 bars with Sprint at my house. Was this review helpful to you?
cannot receive or place voice call. receive text messages but cannot place one. If you work in this area and NEED service I would look at another carrier! Was this review helpful to you?
I used to have Cingular 8125 and my husband still has older Nokia 8100? 8125? and we still have really decent coverage in and out of the house. I got the iPhone because my brother loves it, but he's in the Washington DC metro and has 3G. We're still on Edge (literally and figuratively) and it is a little slower but still much faster than a manual typewriter and tin can and string setup. We have a place right in the southwest part of Kechi as we're leaving city limits on Woodlawn going over K-96 where we're without a tower and so service will drop right there but we can redial or just wait until we get across the freeway and hit the tower in Bel Aire and it's fine. Another dead spot seems to be on 135 where it intersects with 235 and K-96Was this review helpful to you?
I have had some down times out is this area. but for the most part Alltel is the one to go with in Western Kansas. Good Hunting for a wireless service that is any good. Seem to me that they all are raising there prices and getting less service from them. My two cents. Was this review helpful to you?
One to zero bars in the neighborhoods directly northwest of 13th N and St. Paul to 19th N and West St.Was this review helpful to you?
Coverage is usually around 1-2 bars. I have never had a dropped call, but then again I frequently get voicemails when the phone never rings. Was this review helpful to you?
We used to get passable reception inside our house but the last 6 months or so it's been unusable. We get 1 bar at best even outside our house on the street. Was this review helpful to you?
Can get 1 bar in 2 locations in my house. Drop calls about every 15 seconds for blocks around my house. I drop calls at 13th and Broadway (practically the center of town) and on Rock Rd.(hardly rural). I am so glad my contract with Sprint is up in 2 months. Was this review helpful to you?
