AT&T
I had a Tracfone for years (which wasn't fancy but reliable)and all of a sudden it could not get any signal from my home. So switched to AT&T. Bad move... Just to clarify... the sales rep was great and offered an affordable family plan. Very helpful and nice, don't get me wrong. But reception is an absolute nightmare. You are better off sending smoke signals. And I regret I don't exaggerate. I had my new phone for only 7 days before I had to bite the bullet. I understand there are dead zones, and also dead "phones". This is what the main issue was: I work in what some would call the middle of town (or kinda close, 120th and Center). I have to keep in touch with about 50 people a week..roughly. (With no secretary) I didn't get signal anywhere near that location. The other employees even laughed at me for being the only one who had no cellphone signal! I didn't get any signal until after each workday until I got to 96th and L. And even then it would fade in and out rapidly. I am not a "griper" I hardly ever write any bad reviews. I just want to warn others of the costly mistake that (happened to me, may not to you... ) But what I can say is I paid the "early termination" fee (after only 7 days)in the contract but... it was money well worth the change to Verizon. My wife couldn't even get signal on her phone on 72nd through AT&T. I understand everyone has some issues with every carrier. The AT&T store was very supportive and friendly, but Verizon has had the best coverage I've had to date. And I don't need anything fancy... just to be able to send and receive texts in the greater metro! Go with Verizon... everyone else I know does and has no signal problems as of yet! Hope this saves someone some $$$!

Sprint
Reception is excellent, phone calls are great. Data service is utterly UNUSABLE. I frequently see sub-dialup speeds and multi-thousand ms ping rates, and even the best speeds I've gotten in the past 6 months are 40-50 times slower than Verizon!

AT&T
Service is lost from 7 to 9 AM and 3 to 5 PM daily. Due to sparcity of cell towers and communiction overload on existing towers.

Never have a problem with dropped calls, bad reception or unable to get internet service.

Verizon
Drop calls even with an extender. Roaming all the time. No 4G at all. If it were not for hooking up to wifi would have no reliable service on my Nexus. Customer service knows there is a problem but won't do anything a about it. Thinking of switching when contract is up.

T-Mobile
They are terrible. No reception, switches btwn 3G and 4G, and neither is any good. Customer service is horrible and will not work with the customers. Avoid T-Mobile like the plaque. Phone is great and the network is great in the Southwestern US, extremely poor in Nebraska. They advertise 4G data and voice in the greater Omaha area- they lie!

Verizon
Droid phone shows 3 bars of reception until I hit the call button goes to zero and can only hear parts of words when trying to talk to someone. Pretty much have to drive about a mile down the road to get anything

T-Mobile
T-Mobile has basically no coverage in Omaha. They borrow AT&T's towers and put their own antennas on it. How many towers in the Omaha / Council Bluffs area you ask? 5 or 6. Yep. Verizon / AT&T each have nearly 100. You read that right. Stay away from T-Mobile.

Verizon
I get 1 bar of 4G LTE or 1-2 bars of 3G on Verizon. Sprint and AT&T are no better. US Cellular gets full service. Funny thing - my Verizon smartphone gets hardly any service here, but my old Verizon flip phone gets full service. WTH!

Verizon
I never have problems with dropped calls in my neighborhood or anywhere in the city. I've been an Alltel / Verizon customer over 10 years. This may be due to me frequently updating my programming, [*228, option 2] or just always being covered well wherever I am. Even out of town I don't have problems. If a call does drop, it's always during a call with my Sprint friend's and it's their phones because they have low coverage where they are located. Only thing I have a problem with is not finding a cheaper plan. :)

I have a On-Call position and cannot go to my families home during my on-call rotation due to lack of reception. What can be done to fix this?

AT&T
I've had AT&T for the past 2+ years and have had some problems in the beginning with dropped calls, poor service, etc., but things are better and I haven't had these problems since except for the occasional instance where they were probably working on their network. My only real complaint about AT&T and some of the other carriers, such as Verizon, are they expense attached with them (my current bill is about $99 / month). I came to this site looking for alternate, less expensive providers and think I will give their GoPhone plan a try.

Sprint
Sprint 3G service is rarely available inside or outside my home off S 52nd St. and Howard St. There is no Sprint service when I drive to: a) HyVee on Center St. b) Post Office on Saddle Creek c) J.CoCo restaurant on Leavenworth d) UNO campus on Dodge e) AKSARBEN Cinema f) Mark's restaurant on Underwood There is no 4G service available in Omaha via Sprint. Today I drove around the perimeter of Westwood Mall for 15 minutes trying to find a Sprint signal so I could make a phone call. Buyers Beware: I strongly regret having a 2 year contract with Sprint for a service that provides so poorly. I have no complaint with the phone I purchased other than its like having a race car with no fuel.

I switched to Sprint a year ago. I dont get any reception in my house. Sprint is not a good choice for anyone living in my area of Omaha.

The ONLY place in Omaha that a receive great reception is at my mom's house downtown on 22nd and Jones st. Otherwise it is CRAP. I have a Motorola Cliq 2 that has wifi calling... so that is the only lifesaver do me.

AT&T
Had AT&T for iPhone and 15% Union discount. But if husband leaves city he has to use a friend's phone to call. That's ridiculousl. Plus if you add anything they charge a fortune. Luckily we are still on a family plan that doesn't exist anymore, but has more minutes (same cost) for what 150 minutes less plan goes for now! 2 year expiration is coming up so I am looking at Family plans for 4 people, where I can use an iPhone, while the rest just call and one does text.

Verizon
Occasionally there would be delays in text messages, on the order of minutes to hours. But in general we have been much happier after switching to Verizon, even though we paid less with Sprint PCS the last 7 years. You get what you pay for. Pay more with Verizon, better service. Save $ with Sprint, they suck.

Sprint
I got Sprint because of the unlimited data and friend reviews. That was a terrible mistake. I barely have data coverage anywhere in the city. especially downtown anywhere. Ive been talking to them since may and nothing. Also their customer service sucks eggs. Maybe because its based in india, hillarious. When streaming pandora its so horrible. I dont drive so when I'm on the bus I would like to be able to hear my music. My monthly bill is 100+, and for what? My phone freezes, sends duplicate msgs I sent days before man all kind of crap. Bottom line their service and handsets are garbage. Sprint is NO better than Crickett, and OMG they certainly suck.

AT&T
I believe they just rolled out LTE. The icon showed up for the first time and I got a download speed of 20 Mbps with only 3 bars!

AT&T
Poor call quality in my home, I can hear caller but I break up on their end. Tried multiple services calls with AT&T locally and they are unable to fix the problem. Even suggestion I try a different carrier.

Verizon
I have had Verizon for years and have never had any issues with their service until now. I moved away two years ago and returned to the same address a month ago. Now I get widely fluctuating reception with constant dropped calls. Often the calls are one way, I can hear them but they cannot hear me. I go from a maximum of three bars to zero bars constantly. When I leave the neighborhood my phone works great again. Verizon's response to the issue, reception is just fine in the area. We would be happy to sell you a new phone and plan.

Sprint
I got my iphone 4s when it came up. And I been having a "cricket" speed network alike, its fuc**** retard that Sprint provides such a cheap shi** signal to custumers that have contract with them and pay a good amount of money. Ive notice that in all omaha zip codes Sprint is careless about their custumers, if you are reading this to choose which provider to get, DO NOT go with sprint, its like if u were with cricket, very slow video streaming, droped calls, and lost txts. I am done with Sprint and so are three more people that I know!

AT&T
This area has been a poor service area forever. AT&T told me they had a tower being put up that would be activated December 1st, 2011. I checked tower records, and it is true that they were going to. But it got delayed. Tower is still not up. However, they are bringing LTE to Omaha by Thanksgiving! Woooot! :) They are going to do a much better job than Verizon. Verizon only put LTE on half their towers in Omaha. AT&T is putting it on most if not all of them (93 towers)!

AT&T
My phone either has little or no service. I call AT&T about my phone constantly going into "No service" or "searching" modes and they just tell me a bunch of bull or tell me they are looking into it but dont. They make me drive half way across town for no reason. Tell me the issue is with my phone. I have an iphone and it's my 4th one! It's not my damn phone! DO NOT GET ATT and if you have AT&T SWITCH CARRIERS. I have 3 Sprint towers right near my house but the closest AT&T tower is across town. I'm trying to switch carriers but don't have the money and I told AT&T that all I'm doing with their company is flushing $200 a month down the toilet. Sprint is the cheapest carrier and you can get a ton of discounts. Verizon is a money pit as well and their service is super expensive and it's not much better than att.
