Five bars of 3G service with speeds exceeding 3Mbps, even in my basement. AT&T is rock-solid around 72nd and Military / 72nd and Ames. Can't say the same about GSM coverage in all of the Omaha area; the southwest metro area has some major coverage issues. Very solid here in the north-central metro though. Was this review helpful to you?
I had Sprint from 2002 until April 2008. Their coverage is horrible when you leave the Omaha metro area. If you're not in town or on I80 or I29, you'll be lucky to get a signal. I even had to go upstairs in my house to get a signal on my Sprint phone. My wife has had Alltel since I met her seven years ago. She has always had good to great reception. I switched to Alltel (now Verizon Nov 2009) and never looked back in April 2008. We travel to her childhood home in northwest Iowa and to her hometown of Sioux Falls. We travel to the Black Hills every year and have no problems with reception. I can even place and receive calls in the Badlands! Also, I storm chase on the central and northern Plains with a Verizon data card. I rarely have problems downloading real-time weather data from Allison House. It gets a little spotty in northwest Kansas, but reconnects within a minute. To those few who gave a 0 or 1 for Verizon in the Omaha metro area, I have no idea what you're talking about. I drive ALL OVER Omaha fixing people's computers and never have a problem receiving customer's calls. Was this review helpful to you?
If you have T-Mobile and moved to the Omaha metro, you can get out of your contract! its difficult but not impossible. call and complain, if your home address is in an area where there is no service you are all set. T-Mobile will let you cancel without EFTs. If it doesn't work file a complain with the FTC and wait, T-Mobile will call you nd kiss your butt then let you off without any charges. Worked for me (only took a few months:) )Was this review helpful to you?
I live at 104th and Center about 6 blocks south of Center Verizon service is terrible in this area and they have acknowledged that they can not guarantee coverage so beware! Was this review helpful to you?
I spent a week trying to resolve the issue with Sprint and my cell phone. Cox told me it could be that my phone was listed in the 402 area code but not in Omaha. Turned out to be true, but Sprint denied that could be the case. I spoke with Joseph, Cesar, Loren, etc. at the main Sprint number, several people at the 114th Dodge location and people at the 90th Fort location. Sprint kept my phone and when it was returned it worked for a couple of days, then nothing. Took it back and the battery was dead and the port to recharge was also broken. These things were fine when I dropped the phone off. The phone is old but had been working fine. Strange timing. I have discarded my phone and will be looking for new service. I asked for comment cards regarding customer service and was told those had to come from the company and were done by phone and no comment cards were available. One person was willing to help if I extended my contract for two years. I can't consider extending a contract with the poor service and people who can not be trusted. Was this review helpful to you?
I just posted about my crappy T-Mobile service and realized that my pc put in 2000 as the year, the year is actually 2009. This is all current as of 10 / 03 / 2009 so do not get TMOBILE! Dan the supervisor said that he is honoring the statements that Daniel gave me just 2 days before, and that Daniel will be coached because he gave me incorrect information. I have a co-worker who moved from KC (where T-Mobile has coverage) to Omaha, it took him 3 months of documenting dropped calls before he could get out of his contract. Be leary of ever signing a contract with them. T-Mobile sold pre-paid phones at Best Buy and Walmart before the better business bureau cracked down on them. When people went to activate them, they realized that their area codes would be 816 or some other long distant number. They will lie to hold you responsible for a contract! Was this review helpful to you?
T-Mobile claims to have service here but they do not. Their coverage map shows decent coverage in omaha but in reality they only have service on interstates and major highways (Dodge / maple / center streets) and they use AT&T's network for it. They won't roam anywhere off the major roads. TERRIBLE. And they also do not have local phone numbers. If you buy a prepaid phone from Walmart or somewhere it gives you an area code from Virgin islands or some weird place. Was this review helpful to you?
i just started service with AT&T and have had no dropped calls 4 or 5 bars of service all the time even in my basement apartment with no windowsWas this review helpful to you?
I really wanted my Us cellular phone to work for me at work, but I have come to realize it just doesn't. When I walk down the hallway on the 3rd floor I can hear it chiming that I am entering a service area. When I look at the phone - no bars! Not good when you miss an emergency phone call and your kids have to call a neighbor. That makes you look bad for life! You can't even leave a voicemail, and if you are lucky enough to leave a vm, I can't listen to it because 'no service'. I just may go without a cell phone and forget about it for a year or two. Very discontent in Omaha. Was this review helpful to you?
Apparently when Cingular bought AT&T all they took was their name. Certainly their service is substandard. Was this review helpful to you?
