AT&T
I had a Tracfone for years (which wasn't fancy but reliable)and all of a sudden it could not get any signal from my home. So switched to AT&T. Bad move... Just to clarify... the sales rep was great and offered an affordable family plan. Very helpful and nice, don't get me wrong. But reception is an absolute nightmare. You are better off sending smoke signals. And I regret I don't exaggerate. I had my new phone for only 7 days before I had to bite the bullet. I understand there are dead zones, and also dead "phones". This is what the main issue was: I work in what some would call the middle of town (or kinda close, 120th and Center). I have to keep in touch with about 50 people a week..roughly. (With no secretary) I didn't get signal anywhere near that location. The other employees even laughed at me for being the only one who had no cellphone signal! I didn't get any signal until after each workday until I got to 96th and L. And even then it would fade in and out rapidly. I am not a "griper" I hardly ever write any bad reviews. I just want to warn others of the costly mistake that (happened to me, may not to you... ) But what I can say is I paid the "early termination" fee (after only 7 days)in the contract but... it was money well worth the change to Verizon. My wife couldn't even get signal on her phone on 72nd through AT&T. I understand everyone has some issues with every carrier. The AT&T store was very supportive and friendly, but Verizon has had the best coverage I've had to date. And I don't need anything fancy... just to be able to send and receive texts in the greater metro! Go with Verizon... everyone else I know does and has no signal problems as of yet! Hope this saves someone some $$$!

Sprint
Reception is excellent, phone calls are great. Data service is utterly UNUSABLE. I frequently see sub-dialup speeds and multi-thousand ms ping rates, and even the best speeds I've gotten in the past 6 months are 40-50 times slower than Verizon!

AT&T
Service is lost from 7 to 9 AM and 3 to 5 PM daily. Due to sparcity of cell towers and communiction overload on existing towers.

Verizon
We have poor service and it not surprising to have a call dropped when you make the turn into this neighborhood.

Verizon
I get a poor signal where I live and I often drop calls. It is very annoying.

T-Mobile
T-Mobile has basically no coverage in Omaha. They borrow AT&T's towers and put their own antennas on it. How many towers in the Omaha / Council Bluffs area you ask? 5 or 6. Yep. Verizon / AT&T each have nearly 100. You read that right. Stay away from T-Mobile.

Verizon
I never have problems with dropped calls in my neighborhood or anywhere in the city. I've been an Alltel / Verizon customer over 10 years. This may be due to me frequently updating my programming, [*228, option 2] or just always being covered well wherever I am. Even out of town I don't have problems. If a call does drop, it's always during a call with my Sprint friend's and it's their phones because they have low coverage where they are located. Only thing I have a problem with is not finding a cheaper plan. :)

Sprint
Sprint 3G service is rarely available inside or outside my home off S 52nd St. and Howard St. There is no Sprint service when I drive to: a) HyVee on Center St. b) Post Office on Saddle Creek c) J.CoCo restaurant on Leavenworth d) UNO campus on Dodge e) AKSARBEN Cinema f) Mark's restaurant on Underwood There is no 4G service available in Omaha via Sprint. Today I drove around the perimeter of Westwood Mall for 15 minutes trying to find a Sprint signal so I could make a phone call. Buyers Beware: I strongly regret having a 2 year contract with Sprint for a service that provides so poorly. I have no complaint with the phone I purchased other than its like having a race car with no fuel.

T-Mobile
The ONLY place in Omaha that a receive great reception is at my mom's house downtown on 22nd and Jones st. Otherwise it is CRAP. I have a Motorola Cliq 2 that has wifi calling... so that is the only lifesaver do me.

AT&T
Had AT&T for iPhone and 15% Union discount. But if husband leaves city he has to use a friend's phone to call. That's ridiculousl. Plus if you add anything they charge a fortune. Luckily we are still on a family plan that doesn't exist anymore, but has more minutes (same cost) for what 150 minutes less plan goes for now! 2 year expiration is coming up so I am looking at Family plans for 4 people, where I can use an iPhone, while the rest just call and one does text.

Sprint
I got Sprint because of the unlimited data and friend reviews. That was a terrible mistake. I barely have data coverage anywhere in the city. especially downtown anywhere. Ive been talking to them since may and nothing. Also their customer service sucks eggs. Maybe because its based in india, hillarious. When streaming pandora its so horrible. I dont drive so when I'm on the bus I would like to be able to hear my music. My monthly bill is 100+, and for what? My phone freezes, sends duplicate msgs I sent days before man all kind of crap. Bottom line their service and handsets are garbage. Sprint is NO better than Crickett, and OMG they certainly suck.

AT&T
Poor call quality in my home, I can hear caller but I break up on their end. Tried multiple services calls with AT&T locally and they are unable to fix the problem. Even suggestion I try a different carrier.

Phone shows one or zero bars. Texts usually are delayed in going out, up to an hour or more sometimes. Calls being dropped.

Sprint
I have great reception outdoors, but indoors it can vary. 3g can be very slow from 10 to 8 PM.

5 bars? yeah right. Service is terrible almost everywhere in Omaha. Yes, I drove around. What a joke.

Sprint
So far no problems, no dropped calls, the worst calls experience some randomness in the volume, most calls are clear, calling other iphones or high end smartphones usually sounds like there is a studio linked between you and them. 3g is a little slower than my friends on expensive carriers, but usually 80% as fast. Reasonable 3g coverage in anything that resembles a small town.

Sprint
Usually 1 bar or no bars in our garden level apartment and occasionally even outside. And thats WITH roaming. My boyfriend has US Cellular and has no problems sending and receiving calls and texting messages.

T-Mobile
Tmobile has roaming agreements in omaha through AT&T so you can get very good coverage in some areas but it is very spotty coverage.

AT&T
Calls drop... .despite my wife calling me several times, I dont get a ring... interestingly, she also has several outgoing calls to me on her cell but I didnt get any call (not even missed calls). I was with Sprint for 5 years before this and we never had any problem even in remote towns... but AT&T is terrible even in Omaha.

Verizon
Get decent signal majority of the time. Never had a drop call in this area. Verizon is the best.

Sprint
I have had Sprint for 7 months now. Switched over from US Cellular. Sprint's call quality has been ok. Someimes there seems to be a lag from whn you push send and when the call is actually sent. Also, the data speed on Sprint's 3g network have been horrible. Very slow. At times, slower than dialup. I hope things get better or I'm switching back to US Cellular very soon!

Verizon
The worst service I have had since getting a cell phone! Stay away from Verizon unless you can understand people by only hearing every third word or have mind reading capabilities. Seriously my service has been the cause of multiple communication problems and they still say there is no problem with the phone or their service. What ever happened to the customer service?

Cricket
Get one bar on a good day. Miss calls because phone doesn't ring half the time. Cricket sucks, but it is a lot cheaper, and amazingly, it works pretty decent except at my home.

Verizon
I get reception on the main level but when I'm in the basement I don't get any service. I think they should add a cell tower in the area of zipcode 68105.

Verizon
We have had poor reception since July. We often can't use our cell phones inside the building at 102nd and Maple. If we go outside, we have to walk around to find an area where reception actually works a bit. Often when using the phone at work or at home (129th and Center) the conversations are garbled or every few words are lost or the call is dropped completely. Calls to Verizon have finally been met with agreement that there is a problem but a fix date is undetermined. So we get partial service but are expected to pay for full service. We are looking to switch.

Verizon
I have had Alltel / Verizon for 20+ years. Just a few months ago my boyfriend and I started having some issues with the connection. We both have Verizon now. When at home or even in my neighborhood calls break up and sometimes even drop. I also found out that when I am home, sometimes my signal is so weak that my phone doesn't even ring. I didn't complain right away, however, when I received a note in mail from Verizon stating that my signal is even stronger now I had had it and contacted the company. At first, they told me that I would need to purchase extra items for a stronger connection. I told them that was not acceptable and they have dropped that. Since then I have called them three to four more times, and spent about two to three hours opening and reopening tickets and trying different things to fix this issue. The last time I talked to them they said that they had made the signal stronger in my neighborhood and that I just needed to dial *228 or something to fix it. I did this and NOTHING changed. I need to call them back and reopen the ticket... I just dreading it though... They did say once that if necessary they would let me out of my contract, however, being with the company for so long, I would prefer that they just fixed the problem.

Verizon
Verizon confirmed just now on the phone that I am in a low signal area. I read on another post that Verizon must let you out of the contract with no early termination fee. I also read that Sprint is not a lot better. My New Every Two is due this month, so I could switch if I wanted to... Now what?

AT&T
I'm freaking am tired of AT&T's sucky, cheap, pathetic signal. I want to get rid of them so bad because I know Version Wireless or Sprint will do the job for retaining signal in the 68111 area. I am not the only one with the issue because all my friends with AT&T agree with me that the signal is pathetic. They need to amp up the towers strength or something because its not just my phone, I have a whole set of kids who agree with me at school that AT&T is jacked up if they can get reception with the other major wireless carriers. Also, the amount of drop calls are just another piece of work from AT&T. Yeah, AT&T says they cover 97% of Americans, but they do it with a reception of 1 or 0 bars with the letter E reception instead of 3G coverage! Even outside of buildings It still isn't solved! Lesson to be learned: AT&T sucks, get the other carriers for Omaha for your own good!
