Alltel

I have never had any dead spots. I travel all around the state of Texas. Alltel + Kyo = Amazing Service.

Sprint has horrible reception inside my home and around my neighborhood. When I stand outside or go for a walk I get a max of 1 bar. Switched to T-Mobile, excellent reception.

Sprint installed a new tower about two years ago in this area. Since then, it is extremely rare that any calls are dropped in my house. Much better than wife's At&T recept.

I get better reception than at my previous apartment. Just moved to this area, close to Frankford / N Dallas Tollway. Averages 5 bars (out of 6), though it is at 6 often.

McCommas and McMillan This will mirror many of the previous comments about poor service in this area for almost all carriers, but Cingular / AT&T in particular. When I moved to here in 2005 my brother had lived here a while already and had warned me about the spotty coverage, but I didn't understand the scope if it until I saw it for myself... .I haven't had cell coverage this poor -anywhere- since 1998 or before. Bars jump up and down, but they are rarely an accurate indicator anyway. Coverage does seem to be worst at peak usage times, which would validate that the towers and their amplification capability are extremely overloaded. When that happens, every single connection to that tower suffers. Even when calls are connected, they never get better than 'grainy', full of pops and dropped words. Reception is so much clearer at my office (Arlington has better coverage than uptown!), I had to set up separate volume profiles on my phone for home and work. Looking at the tower map on this site, it's clear that there's a large area here with almost no (registered(towers). Bordered by Highland Park on the W, loop 12 on the N, White Rock Lake (or further) on the E, and Lemmon on the S. I don't know if it's zoning or what, but nobody seems to be in any hurry to cover this area better.

As I drive north on Audelia from Northwest Highway, my phone calls get dropped every time, especially approaching Lanshire.

Coming from North Grand Prairie, TX on Beltline as you cross the FedEX depot and up to reaching Shady Grove intersection coming into Irving, TX there is a weak to dead spot stretch of land for about 2-3 miles. Calls are almost guaranteed to be dropped as you get closer to the Shady Grove intersection. Have called T-Mobile numerous times. They do not plan any upgrades to this stretch of land to improve reception.

I have had a great experience with Verizon in DFW. They provide great service in my office, at home and everywhere in between. I would suggest them to anyone.

"Cingular - fewest dropped calls"... NOT! Within my apartment and within 5 miles of it, calls drop constantly, usually after 10-20 minutes. "Network unavailable" errors prevent outgoing calls 5-10 minutes after drop. This happens daily. In this area, Sprint / Nextell was even worse; I was unable to receive calls or place them with unacceptable frequency, ie daily. 6 calls to Cingular customer support have been useless. they have so suggestions, no solutions, and no explanation except this: one tech person said that Cingular towers were simply operating at maximum capacity, and could not handle the network traffic in this area. Nothing can be done until more Cingular towers are built or acquired. I am shopping for a new wireless carrier, and hoping this area is not the Bermuda Triangle or wireless service.

"Cingular - fewest dropped calls"... NOT! Within my apartment and within 4 miles of it, calls drop constantly, usually after 10-20 minutes. "Network unavailable" errors prevent outgoing calls 5-10 minutes after drop. This happens every day. In this area, Sprint / Nextell was even worse; I was unable to receive calls or place them with unacceptable frequency, ie daily. 6 calls to Cingular customer support have been useless. I am shopping for a new carrier. It could be that this area is a Bermuda Triangle for wireless. Sigh.
