AT&T
Although they work, I am often on Mexican towers as traveling Eagle Ford Shale / Galvan Ranches. The area is under serviced by all carriers. Expect less coverage to no coverage wherever you go outside of Laredo. It's so bad the government and the PUC have a subsidized satellite service that is available. If you want Data, expect Edge only outside of Laredo. Better to get a USB mini or micro to USB and go back to dialup services with unlimited calling plans, and use phone as modem to a computer, then to depend on data. Virgin Mobile / Sprint give limited coverage on roads going north other than I35, which is covered mostly. Have friends who stay true to Verizon, and boosters that get by. Most oilfield and ranchers who need coverage end up spending a wad of cash for boosters, antennas and so on to make little service work. All vendors tell you more towers, better service and so on.

From mid Feb to now, I've had really poor reception and service from AT&T. Please give me the best providers for the South Texas area. Thank You.

We work on the railroad and seems to be the only phone that works, you look at coverage maps and you will see that most carriers claim best reception out there and it is far from it. AT&T though seems to be the preferred carrier all the other ones leave you wondering if you miss a call. Sprint is the worst of them all, followed closely by Verizon

The reception in my area is really bad :( But in the rest of the city it is really good I want AT&T to make another tower in north west Laredo cuz it sucks when you live by the river :S

I must say that I get great reception from AT&T here in Laredo, TX. There is just one complaint I have. They need to make another tower closer to west Laredo because the signal does drop and in rare cases you get signal from Mexican Carriers such as Movistar or Telcel. But all in all The reception in laredo from AT&T is the best

I have had great reception with both phones I've had on the Sprint network (a flip phone and my new HTC Hero). On Hwy. 59, with the exception of a 3-mile stretch outside of Freer (southbound) and a 10-15 mile stretch between Freer and San Diego, reception is great. However, there was no signal west of Laredo except directly inside city limits of the small towns (like Carrizo Springs) and no signal in some of those towns. Sprint needs more towers covering the back roads.

Reception SUCKS! about 2 miles out of Dilley going to Big Wells there is NO reception. Then 6 to 8 miles west of big wells reception is fine. I get great reception in Carrizo Springs (78836 I think) and Crystal City but none in Big Wells... .sucks to go visit my family and have NO cell phone service.

While the reception rating for AT&T is good in my area, their business system is one of the poorest I have ever dealt with. They are forever making mistakes on my bills(to their advantage of course) and their web pages are horrible to deal with. Can hardly wait to get out of my contract with tis selfish carrier who is definitely not in it for the consumer.
