Sprint
Sprint's reception is so poor in San Antonio I was almost better off using native GPS alone rather than trying to use tower assisted. I would show up at a location and my phone would show me still on the other side of town. Lots of dropped calls. I was out of plan anyway and decided to go Verizon prepaid. Have terrific, cheap service now. Called to cancel with Sprint and they informed me they will NOT cancel service immediately and pro-rate the end of a coverage period, so exiting users have to pay their entire bill. So if your cycle is on the 1st, and you cancel the 3rd, you will pay for 27 days of non-use while on another carrier with the same number. I've never had a carrier do this, even if it's technically legal. I assume the legit carriers are interested in return customers and don't want to create bad blood. So for Sprint, it means they are very aware people who leave are never coming back. Which is why they literally argue with you when cancelling service. Adios Sprint. You won't be a brand in 10 years.

I have lived in this area for 5 years, in two different houses about 5 blocks apart. In the first house (4 years), reception was spotty inside, but consistainly good (three bars) outside. At the new house it is from zero to three bars regardless; inside or out. It is very troublesome as it comes and goes. At one bar they can't hear you, if it goes to zero the call drops. As soon as it drops the call you look and it's at three bars.

T-mobile was great when I lived on the Northwest side of town, near Bandera and 1604. Now that I've moved to Alamo Heights, I get dropped calls, moments where there is no service whatsoever, and 0-2 bars when I'm supposed to get 4-5. This happens in my home and outside. I have to travel a few miles to get a strong signal. I don't see the point in having this service if I have to invest $200-$600 for a booster unit. If I'm paying for a service, I should be able to access it. T-Mobile told me they'd check the towers and get back to me in 72 hours. They didn't.

Every call I get in my office drops within 20 seconds. I'm in a second floor office with a window. I can usually get calls in another location in the building but no internet service. Extremely poor service. It's been very frustrating.

My wife and I have a small store that we own, and we rely on our cell phones to work to conduct business. We are luck to have one bar on 3G iPhone, and on my Galaxy S3, its always switching from 3G to 4G. We also rely on our data service to update our business Facebook, but it always fails to send data. And if we travel, our service in Port Aransas,TX is non-existent.

Worst Service Ever. I cannot believe T Mobile to give such kind of service. I have used T mobile else where and never encountered this kind of service. I really dont know what happened to them. Even their customer service sucks now.

T-Mobile service in this area is deplorable. Text message delivery fails. Calls drop constantly. Voicemails show up days later. Online access is up to the phone, rarely cooperative when you need it most. Weekends are even worse. Ive logged dozens of complaints and T-Mobile refuses to rectify the situation. This isn't just in my house, its in the backyard and frontyard, too. Service doesn't go to 5 bars until I go north on San Pedro. DO NOT get T-Mobile in SA or at least inside 410. Horrible! Their customer service people are clueless also.

I have AT&T. Lately I've noticed my reception is poor pretty much all over and especially in buildings. If I have more than 3 bars, it's a miracle. Just to be clear, I have no issue with AT&T's customer service. They've been fine. I'm looking into Sprint and Verizon. Sprint seems to be the better deal economically, but Verizon seems to have the least reception issues.

We have very few dropped calls. However, I don't get voicemail messages for at least 3 hours to 45 days. Since I'm dependent on my phone for my job this can be very very bad. I've not gotten important messages, then suddenly I'll have over 50 voicemails. Texting is a PITA. It only works about 30% of the time. I don't get responses and look to find that the texts have never been sent... locked in my outbox. I have the same problem getting texts taht I do with voicemails. Today I got 90 texts, some from December 2010! That is just wrong. Sprint says "oh well". They are not helpful at all with customer service. I can't wait to get out of this contract. Have had them since 1995 and was always happy till the last 18 months. My download speeds are about 3KB per hour. Most websites never load. I just have given up.
