Never a dropped call. Always clear. Great data speeds. No complaints or problems with Verizon in this area.

3 to 5 bars at all times but it is rare to have a conversation for more than 1 minute that does not require a re-dial. I have used a French cell phone in the Paris underground metro many times and have never lost a call - and I mean never. I don't understand why the cell service in Austin is so poor!

AT&T reception is really bad in most parts of Austin.

Sprint claims there's coverage, but there is none. If I'm anywhere near my apartment, I can't get calls or, if by some miracle a call comes in, it typically doesn't last any more than 5 minutes, if that, before the signal gets dropped. If it weren't for the stupid 2yr contract, I'd cancel immediately.

Does AT and T even have towers in Austin? I would think not from the reception that I get. Most calls are dropped, and before I bought another phone (it appears the one that came with my plan was made to self-destruct about a month before my contract was up), the only reception that I could get was inside of my house.

Sprint is the only company I've ever had. It has always worked everywhere I've been. Except inside my house in southeast Travis County. It fluctuates wildly inside the house and usually will drop a call 80% of the time. Outside the house the signal is better, but less than 3 bars. Less than 1 / 4 mile away I get near perfect reception. I must be on the edge of 2 different towers and the signal is being transferred between them too rapidly. Such is the nature of CDMA. One caveat is I have solar shielding in my roof. This tends to affect all weak radio signal reception inside the house. I don't think any other carrier is goin to be any better until the gap is filled by another tower.

Reception sucks at my house... one to two bars that will disappear if I move 15 to 20 feet. I can call in one part of the house, go to a different room or a different part of the room and go from some bars to no bars.

I can get very limited reception on the sidewalk in front of my house; in the house, not even that.
