We have awful reception in our house and usually have to go outside to use the phone, but sometimes even driving the street I'll lose the signal. Driving down 1431 towards Jonestown I lose my signal 3 or 4 times nearly every day! We had AT&T TDMA for years and loved it. When we first switched over to GSM we could manually select the network to find a tower that worked better, but now they all just show Cingular and are awful. Granted my husband has a Sony Erickson T637 and his reception is better than mine but still loses calls in the house and on 1431.Was this review helpful to you?
I get perfect reception at my house in Jonestown. I get dropped calls occasionally when I'm driving around Austin but not any worse than other carriers I've used. My Mom has ATT / Cingular. She got no reception here until after the merge. Now just a bar or two. But still when she is driving from Cedar Park to Jonestown and I happen to be talking to her she always says, "Well I'm fixing to go down the big hill so I'm going to get cut o... ... " I can talk all the way with no problem. I have never had any problems with T-Mobile customer service. Was this review helpful to you?
Nothing but hills here... ... .you'd need a tower on every hilltop to get down in these ravines. Signal drops to zero near Hull Cir. and again at the Bee Creek bridge (The High Road). T-Mobile is the only carrier that gets even two bars halfway consistently near the bridge, and even though calls break up occasionally, calls seldom get dropped. I've tried Cingular, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon... ... .don't find yourself in this area needing to make an emergency call on those systems. You will die of frustration well before you can bleed to death. Dropouts are also frequent on the south side of Red Bud also, starting within a quarter mile of Bee Caves Rd. Cell phone frequencies are high enough that they are fairly line of sight... ... .if you can't see a tower with your eye, it may not see your phone, making an idyllic location near the creek a poor place for yapping on the phone, especially if power lines are near. Was this review helpful to you?
I live in San Antonio and Dr.to Austin 5 nights a week to work. My reception is always good. The only time I have trouble with reception is when I am talking to a friend who has Sprint( he is constantly dropping calls). Was this review helpful to you?
As soon as I leave work and head North on 183 access, then U -turn at Anderson Mill, I'm constantly losing reception. Also have poor reception at work (Artisan Cabinetry and Design) (Near Main Event). Then there's the 183 fly over to Mopac, lose it there. And of course forget driving on 2222. AT&T was much better with it's reception. Cingular just sucks. Heard it might be my phone (Cingular doesn't support it any more) but there's not another decent phone out there that downloads to outlook and vice versa. Was this review helpful to you?

We have Att, Cingular, and Verizon in our household. ATT TMDA by far is the best, Verizon 2nd and then Cingular. My kid with Cingular has to step outside alot of the time to talk. Verizon seems to work pretty well in the house. I really dread it when my service goes completely to Cingular. I've been shopping around and found this site. It doesn't look like any one service is perfect. Was this review helpful to you?

I have had very good reception with Sprint wireless as my "home" phone service for the past 2 and 1 / 2 years. Occasionally I will get a dropped call or my phone will not ring when I get an incoming call, but that has been rare and has not really been a problem at all. I am concerned with problems due to Sprint merging with Nextel. For example, one month they messed up my bill and then corrected the problem the next month but they didn't offer any kind of a "we're sorry for our mistake" credit which they should have done. Also one weekend the Sprint wireless web was completely down. After dealing with inept customer service people who couldn't transfer me to their OWN technical support, and ignorant store people who didn't have any idea about what was going on, I finally talked to a technical support guy after dialing the tech support number MYSELF who said the Sprint wireless web network was down nationwide. Why didn't anyone else in their company know that? Anyway, Sprint is much better than AT&T TDMA was. I had AT&T for one year and never ever had a clear call. No wonder AT&T sold their wireless service to Cingular which dropped the "AT&T Wireless" name. They were really horrible. Was this review helpful to you?
