AT&T Wireless (GSM)
I loved ATT wireless until Cingular took over two or three weeks ago. Now it totally sucks and I have drop calls all the time. Customer service now really doesn't give a crap for some reason, probably because of all the internal turmoil within the comapny from the take-over.

SOS Only all the time. Nothing but excuses from AT&T.

I just switched from Nextel to AT&T and i am not at all impressed with the quality of reception I am getting out here. This is even supposed to be after cingular and AT&T merged. My phone often drops calls and the signal strength is always going up and down. I was going to try and get a different phone but I think I am going to try and get a loaner from Verizon and see what happens. It is important to me to have good reception because I use it as my primary phone. If you live off of Manchaca and Ben White I suggest you stay away from AT&T - wait - maybe stay away if you value the quality and ability to make calls on your portable phone (What a concept hey!).

I have been dreading to make a switch but the service has gotten so bad I just have to be able to actually have any conversations.

I usually get 1 or 2 bars of reception, and have a hard time having a conversation. This is when standing outside. Inside, I get almost no reception. Also, at 51st and Duval I can't get reception inside or outside.

We've got 4 T-mobile SIMs and different phones (Nokia, Samsung, and some unlocked Asian Panasonics). We got the kids phones so that they can contact us for pick-up from their after school activities. Needless to say, they've got to track down pay phones. I've been in the school parking lot and have been unable to get a signal. This is not a recent issue. It's been an issue for over a year.

Drops calls "signal faded." Shows 1-2 towers with a phantom 3rd that teases me.

Never had any problems with AT&T TDMA - sounded great. Switched to AT&T GSM and it sucks! Noticeable static on all the calls. Phone says full signal strength but sounds terrible! Switching back to TDMA.

May you never have to enter this area during an important call.

Reception in Travis Heights is awful. In my house, I teeter between 2 bars (rare) and No Service (more frequent). I have walked all over the neighborhood with my phone (from near Riverside all the way down to Oltorf) and I peaked briefly at 3 bars, but quickly went back down to 2 and often 1. GSM reception is horrendous. The last two times I have tried to receive a call outside my home (once in Tarrytown and once just west of Braker-I35), the signal was breaking up and eventually dropped.
