Sprint

I've had Sprint for the last 10 years living in the same house. A year ago we started getting numerous dropped calls and Sprint offered us an Airave which worked fabulously. In the past couple of months, we understand Sprint did an "upgrade" in the area and now we get no signal in a 4 block radius of our home on our cells and our Airave no longer gets a signal. After being a long-term customer, we are looking at changing our carrier.

Verizon LTE was good in the area, and along the bus route up South Congress to UT campus. Never experienced delays when browsing the internet, downloading apps, or using navigation. Calls were clear, crisp, and loud. I cannot say the same thing for Sprint. Using the same model phone on Sprint, my calls were consistently dropped inside my apartment, and I often heard an echo of my own voice or the other caller's voice would be muffled. Only drawback to Verizon is the high cost of data. Looking for decent 4G data speeds in Austin. I'm going to try T-Mobile next.

What is going on with Sprint? I heard they had 4G LTE in Austin so I got the Note 2 but I am getting an average of less than 1Mb / s in my apartment. In this same area on Verizon, I was averaging 15Mb / s on LTE. With Verizon I felt that their data usage tiers were too low and I was scared I would go over my plan when using 4G in non-WiFi areas, but with Sprint's unlimited I don't think I could even hit 2GB at these low data rates.

My phone hasn't been on contract for three years. It's almost 5 years old; no longer supported by Verizon; they don't even sell batteries for it anymore. About 3 months ago the phone started breaking up - dropping parts of words every second or two. I thought maybe going with a new IPhone would be a good idea, but if I do, after reading this forum I'm definitely not going to change carriers since Verizon has always provided average-to-good reception virtually anywhere I go, nationwide. However, the dark side of me wonders if Verizon is intentionally making system changes to support newer models, that cause older phones like mine to perform more poorly... this would only adversely affect a small set of existing customers with 'ancient' phones, and could very likely drive them back into Verizon stores for a new phone and a new contract.

A few days ago my LTE service dropped completely. I have been in crucial driving navigation situations and no service. No internet on phone from downtown all the way up to Airport&52nd. Nada! WTF

I've had ATT for a few years bc of contract. Almost never have I been able to make a call from home (area indicated). If I can, the calls almost always drop, and the reception is horrible. I don't even turn on my cell at the house.
